Ten Simcha Chasdei Nochum, a gown gemach located in Crown Heights for the past 2 decades, is expanding its services to include different locations around the world.
Directed by Mrs. Risa Greenwald, the Gemach has assisted hundreds of women over the years, enabling them to find beautiful quality gowns with dignity, yet at a fraction of the cost.
Women come from Crown Heights, the New York area, and around the world to Chasdei Nochum Ten Simcha for elegant, exquisite gowns, along with Mrs. Greenwald’s patient and expert assistance in choosing fit, color and style.
The Gemach, which was founded in memory of Mrs. Greenwalds’s father R’ Menachem Nochum Preger OBM, will be expanding to satellite locations around the world, Mrs. Greenwald says.
In the past year, Mrs. Greenwald has been working with anash and shluchos in different communities with a sizable frum population to bring the gown Gemach services to different locations.
One of the first satellite locations the Gemach has expanded to is Montreal, where the selection of gowns was well received by locals.
“Chasdei Nochum coming to Montreal is what the community needs,” said Shlucha Baila Greenwald of Montreal. “We have some local gown rentals, but for families in need of financial aid, there’s not much of a choice for them. Our goal is to help families in need of assistance look and feel beautiful for their upcoming Simcha within their budget in a discreet and appropriate manner,” she said.
Shlucha Chany Baron of Chabad of Howard County, who will be opening a Chasdei Nochum location servicing the Baltimore, Silver Spring and surrounding areas, expressed how many people living in out-of-town communities are challenged in terms of scheduling constraints and distance when looking for gowns for relative’s weddings.
“The expansion of this Gemach into out-of-town Chabad communities will be very helpful,” said Baron. “At a recent Simcha, members of my family were able to find beautiful gowns for the wedding from among the gowns provided by Ten Simcha.”
Mrs. Greenwald would like to thank Mrs. Yehudis Cohen, Mrs. Devora Krasiansky and Mrs. Chumy Carlebach for their constant support, advice and involvement.
