R’ Shmuel Marmulszteyn, a Lubavitcher chossid who was active in Crown Heights Jewish community affairs for many years, passed away on Shabbos, 11 Shevat 5775.
He was 74 and suffered from a lengthy illness.
Born in Brazil, he went to Yeshiva in Crown Heights and married Leah Lipsker, daughter of R’ Yankel Lipsker, the gabbai of the main shul at Lubavitch Headquarters.
He served as Vice President of the transportation committee of the governmental advisory Community Board 9 and took an active yet behind-the-scenes role in the development of the Jewish neighborhood.
A regular at Empire Shtiebel, fellow congregants remember him as a kind person who would always be of service to people and the community. He earned a living as a jeweler.
He is survived by his wife Leah, their children R’ Aaron Marmulszteyn – Lake Hiawatha, NJ; R’ Levi Marmulszteyn – New Hempstead, NY; Mrs. Rivka Glazman – Riga, Latvia; R’ Avrohom Boruch Marmulszteyn – Brooklyn, NY; R’ Mendel Marmulszteyn – Thornhill, Ontario; and grandchildren.
The levaya will take place on Sunday, leaving from Shomrei Hadas Chapels on 14th Avenue at 12:00 PM and will be passing 770 Eastern Parkway at around 12:45 PM. He will be interred at Old Montefiore Cemetery in Queens.
The family will be sitting shiva at their home at 431 Sterling Street, Brooklyn NY 11225.

He went on Mivtzoim to an old age home for more than 25 years to put Tefillin on with men who knew him as the Rabbi.
