Tokyo Japan – The youngest of three Israeli Yeshiva students accused of smuggling drugs from Israel into Japan, has been sentenced today.
According to preliminary reports, the judge gave his verdict, sentencing Yosef Bandau from five to eight years in prison, from which 266 days he already served, and a third off for good behavior. The judge also order to pay a fine of 4 million yen roughly about 40,000 $USD.
Lawyers in the case have proposed that Bandau should to be extradited to Israel and serve the rest of his sentence in the State, which is likely to happen after a formal request is made.
No date has been set yet for a hearing of the two other yeshiva students, but according to Lubavitcher attorney Mordechai Tzivin who is representing them, a date should be set within the next 3 months.

These are drug smugglers, let them rot in jail where they belong just like any non jew. The Satmer sect is well known for there illegal activities. If these three were not frum all of you would be saying the police did an excellent job. You people are nothing but sheep being lead around incapable of indepentant thought.

You’re right, so…you’ve added, like, nothing to the conversation. Good spot though.
First & third are same person!!
If you bothered to read my comment, I wrote “allegedly.” Also, I really have no idea how the rest of your comment applies to my comment. The true chilul hashem isn’t that these young men (allegedly) committed a crime wearing payos & black hats — rather, that they were brought up to believe that this kind of behavior is acceptable in general.
Possibly 36, you are the kind of person I addressed in my earlier comment…

who says they bichlal did it? if yes CHV, they dont have to do it like this. they can shave their peyos and beards and walk into secular life. they dont need to put the appearance of frumkeit then get caught with drugs. certainly not for the reason you stated
Good parenting is more than wearing tznius clothing, though some people seem to think that that alone will guaranty that you’ll have torah-keeping children. These boys didn’t (allegedly) do what they did because their mothers wore short skirts (or because some women somewhere else wore short skirts), they did it (or were brazen enough to think it was okay to do) because they didn’t get a proper upbringing and didn’t have proper parental oversight. Unfortunately, there are too many Jewish children being trained in an ideology that instructs them that secular criminal law does not apply to them, or at… Read more »
They were patsies at best, accomplices at worst.. If they were patsies, the Rav , the criminals and Yeshiva that were behind this plot should give themselves up and be jailed for life and the boys set free. If they were a willing partner in the drug sales scheme to pay for the Yeshiva and to make a little spending money ,, they deserve the time. They are supposed to know right from wrong at this age,and there are at least two other Yeshivas that I know of that do the same thing in order to support themselves.

EXCUSE ME!!!
i agree with all you say except for ”pretend hes a lubavitcher”
like we lubavitchers are so close-minded that we cant daven for anyone out of our circles!!!!!! how narrow is that? every jew, satmar, belz, lubavitch, vizhnitz etc. is a jew like all the others! i am for sure going to pray for this poor young man, because he is my brother figuratively. Acheinu kol beis yisroel! all klal yisroel are brothers, and brothers, no matter what their status is, pray for each other!
chilul hashem ha .
ahavas yisroel dont do things wich you dont want to be don to you.
MOSHIACH NOW
Guilty or not, mistake or not-we do not know the exact truth and it does not matter.what matters is that they are our children and we should pray for them JUST LIKE YOU WOULD FOR A JEWISH SOUL NO MATTER what group he was affiliated with. Pretend he is a Lubavitcher and I’m sure prayers will come a bit easier…!
Yoel Zev ben Mirel Risa Chava, Yakov Yosef ben Reizel and Yosef ben Ita Rivka are their names. may hashem grant them freedom soon. yosef is the one who now got the jail sentence r”l. lets pray that it will be nullified and he can go back home
As you said yourself “I do not know the details …”
In describing Tzivin as “Lubavitcher Attorney” gives the impression he is defending Lubavitcher students. If you are attempting to take pride in the fact that he is Lubavitch, then word it as such: “the attorney, Tzivin, which happens to be a Lubavitcher”
I feel truly sorry for those bochrim and hope they get out asap but i do not recognize the tznius laws posted by the mother… thats judaism??? not the one i keep.
I love the way everyone is busy with why Moshiach is not here yet. And why the goyim are all huffing and puffing at the Jewish state and the Jews. Well do some homework you do not have to be so very intelligent simpleton could and should figure this one … How many of us have attacked our own brothers and sisters fathers and mothers with disrespect how much pain have we inflicted onto our “friends” embarrassed our friends stole from them now what do you want from the goyim they are doing them same… First change yourself so you… Read more »
look in mothers letters – #14
what are there names and mothers names so we can properly say tehillim
How do they trust there rav
they were accused of something they didn’t do don’t start judging
Ehwygawd! Jews in prison!? I’m shocked!!!
to #8:
i cant help wondering:
we all are so sure that these 3 people didnt mean/want/think bichlal that they are doing this and i have no doubt that they didnt do it.
now here is a equally frum guy, driver of the satmar rav, Horav benzion miller. now if we can wholeheartedly believe these yeshiva guys didnt do it, how can we believe that this also frum choshuve yid did such a bad thing? maybe he really was forced to do it or something.
oy my heart breaks when i read this
ad mosai hashem???????
Join Neturei Karta or some other sect. You don’t belong in Lubavitch if you cannot find pity and ahavas yisroel in your heart – whether or not they are guilty.
G-d is punishing us for something we did, we must repent as quickly as we can, the poor boy lost about 50 lbs. and he is not well, mentally. nobody can be after being in a japanese prison. Please Hashem, have rachmonus on the poor children suffereing!
ad mosai? how much longer does hashem have to send us these hints that we are still in golus??
is the same as the last. they must not be allowed to post a picture of him, or maybe they don’t have…. very sad! we need mosiach!
Here is a letter that one of the boy’s mother wrote: This letter was written by Mrs. Goldstein the mother of Yoel Zev ben Mirel Risa Chava Dear Sisters, I am writing to you in a feeble attempt to ease the pain in my heart. An entire year has passed since my son was imprisoned in Japan. I wish it were a bad dream; unfortunately it is a nightmare which I cannot brush away, or ‘wake up’ from. Can you fathom what a mother is experiencing in such a time? There are no words available in any language, to accurately… Read more »
This is serious, your comments here on the internet may have an impact on the outcome… I won’t go into detail, but please, i beg of you, for the sake of these yiddishe neshamos, be very careful of what you post!! also, for those who wish to actually do something constructive, i am going to post in a separate comment a copy of a letter that the mother of one of the boys wrote. Please be sensitive to the feelings and needs of the boys themselves, and their families, and do not bash, regardless of what your personal opinion is.
just by the way the boys did nothing wrong however there is no way of proving them innocent. you might want to find out the details before u make such nasty remarks.
moshiach now!
I keep asking the same question – where is he???
i know theyre not lubavitch, but they’re our brothers. And, anyway doesnt lubavitch stand for ahavas yisroel! moshiach now!!!
why? why all the hate? can you only imagine what they are going thru? imagine it was your child, your friend, or your neighbor. and all u can say is tough luck? hes a fellow jew, HE IS YOUR BROTHER! the least you can do is feel a little pain for them. why every time that a article is posted must there be coments of people always looking for the bad. this is what destroyed the bais hamikdash. how can you consider yourself a frum jew and call yourself a chossid of the rebbe if you cant even have a little… Read more »
I want to know what happens to the guy who got them to do it. He works for the Satmar Rebbe, they said. what happens to them? shouldnt they be held accounatable for their actions and also for using these poor boys in this way?
That is pretty harsh, considering they were convinced by someone that was like an authority figure to them to take the suitcases… a little rachmonus on them is called for..
And where is the hero that put them up to do this? What shall be of his fate?
I am very surprised at the attitudes expressed above. I do not know the details of the crimes these young men have been accused of, but assuming they are guilty as charged, it is an enormous Chillul Hashem and TOUGH LUCK.
Wow, and he’s so young, they cant even show his face. What a sad sad thing…
This is terribel! we shuld say tehilim for tehm
Japan has very strict laws when it comes to drugs. They seem to have zero tolerance…and they got the worst of it.
This is such a tragedy. I feel so sorry for them and their families. May they be released soon.
