350 Chabad women gathered at the Doubletree Hilton in Pittsburgh-Greentree, PA, for a most inspiring and spiritual Shabbos.
The 53rd Nshei Chabad Convention, hosted by the Pittsburgh community, was coordinated by Mrs. Chanie Rosenblum, Mrs. Nechama Itkin and Mrs. Blumie Rosenfeld, along with Mrs. Rivie Feldman, who has been coordinating the annual women’s weekend events for 28 years. Nearly 100 local Nshei women took part in the organizing committees.
The three-day event combined learning, inspiration and camaraderie amongst participants from all walks of life, hailing from across the United States and Canada.
During the weekend, fascinating workshops were held on topics such as Sholom Bayis, women’s health, Shidduchim, raising Chassidishe children, and healthy communication.
Speakers included Rabbi Yosef Yitzchok Jacobson, Rabbi Manis Friedman, Mrs. Rivki Hazan of Milan, Italy, Rabbi Yossi Rosenblum and Rabbi Yosef Deren.
During the weekend, Pittsburgh’s local residents Mrs. Chaya Engle, Mrs. Malka Babich and Mrs. Mor Greenberg enthralled and inspired participants with personal stories of their journey to Yiddishkeit.
A comedy skit by talented women from the community and directed by Mrs. Amy Guterson provided entertainment during Shalosh Seudos.
On Motzei Shabbos, convention-goers boarded buses to Lubavitch Center for an elegant Melave Malka.
The evening was dedicated to the memory of Mrs. Keny Deren, who, as the daughter of Yeshiva’s founders, Rabbi and Mrs. Sholom Posner, served as principal of the Pittsburgh Yeshiva Girls School for many decades, and was a beloved member of the Pittsburgh community and the world of Chabad.
The emcee for the evening was Mrs. Leah Herman who graciously greeted the crowd. After watching a video of he Rebbe on Living Torah, Western Pennsylvania’s head shliach, Rabbi Yisroel Rosenfeld, welcomed the women and shared the Rebbe’s letter.
Mrs. Blumi Rosenfeld, Rabbi Rosenfeld’s wife and Mrs. Deren’s daughter, then inspired everyone as she paid tribute to her mother as an extraordinary wife, mother and chossid of the Rebbe. Young women from Pittsburgh’s Tzohar seminary displayed their musical talent under the direction of Mrs. Tanya Guterson-Trestman and Rabbi Yosef Yitzchok Jacobson then dazzled everyone with more of his brilliant Torah insights.
After a delicious meal and amidst beautiful and celebratory decor, Mrs. Mirele Rosenberger and Mrs. Rus Devorah Wallen got everyone up on their feet, assuring that the conventioners not just step into the light, but dance into the light!
So sorry I had to miss this convention; the pictures said it all. Hopefully, next year!!!
