One Night, One Light Replay

Hosted by David Nesenoff, One Night One Light’s live online streaming show on the first night of Chanukah was viewed by thousands and received great reviews. The 30-minute program included a message from the Head Shaliach of Russia, Rabbi Berel Lazar, who compared the holiday’s miracle to the miracle of the huge menorah that stands at the Kremlin in Moscow.

Jackie Mason, who usually jokes, was moved to seriously wish the Jews throughout the world congratulations for their fortitude, continuity and great accomplishments. With headquarters in front of the camera at the Holocaust Memorial in Miami Beach, David Nesenoff bounced around the world introducing messages from Israel, Italy, Brooklyn, Boca, California, France and a special enthusiastic greeting from Brazil by Meyer Nigri and his family.

San Diego Shluchim’s daughter Elisheva Dinerman encouraged all her fellow Bat Mitzvah girls to take on more Mitzvos starting this Chanukah. Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams spoke about the collective and singular importance of the Chanukah candles, while Boca Raton Shaliach Rabbi Moshe Denburg expounded on the unique quality of oil and how it always rises to the top, comparing it to the heights of Torah and Mitzvah observance. Gutman Locks, who mans the Chabad tfillin stand at the Kotel, also delivered a spiritual Chasidishe Chanukah message directly in front of the Kotel.

After Nesenoff lit the first candle, musical performances were presented by Eli Marcus accompanied by Moshe Goldstein on piano and the United Lubavitch Yeshiva Boys Choir, with an outstanding one of a kind rendition of “Haneyros Hallelu” from Music Studio NYC in Crown Heights. On tour, back stage at a concert, the Maccabeats offered greetings to the One Night One Light cyber audience and sang Maoz Tsur. Also, soulful incredible singer/guitarist Levi Robin sang his hit song “Mighty Waters” from his music studio in Brooklyn. In a dramatic sequence in the web broadcast, Mendel Carlebach, Avi Fried and Shui Samit performed a nigun while sitting at the base of the towering “arm” sculpture with the cast iron haunting bodies of the Holocaust.

Even hip hop Jewish rapper and wordsmith Ari Lesser rhymed in from the west coast with Chanukah salutations and a hypnotic rap that began “Chanukah, just ain’t what it use to be…” The half hour mix of substance, messages and music concluded by David Nesenoff urging his viewers to take this opportunity of Chanukah to “do more Jewish” while specifically emphasizing the mitzvos of tfillin and shabbos candles. And just when one thought the program had concluded, Shmuel and Bentzion Marcus of 8th Day pop up in the screen complimenting Nesenoff on the program and introducing their new hit video “Hooleh” which then played till the end credits.

Individuals and families throughout the world watched with curiosity and great enjoyment, some communities even gathered together to screen the event. “We received many emails,” event producer Adam Nesenoff said. “One place specifically reported that they had over 450 people watching from a large screen.”

Rabbi Tuvia Teldon, Heah Shaliach of Long Island, New York, wrote in, “Great job! Kol Hakavod, I loved it!” While miles away in Manalapan, New Jersey, Rabbi Boruch Chazanow praised, “Thanks so much!” Other comments flooding in from around the globe included, “Great show!” “It was AWESOME!” “Amaaaaazing job!” “Keep up the greatness!” and “Beautiful!”
