Lighting in Memory of Yossi Raksin

It was a great honor to have our dear friend Zalmen Raksin light Aliya’s giant menorah at our Chanukah party on Tuesday night.

Zalmen’s father Reb Yosef Raksin was killed in North Miami Beach this past summer while walking to shul Shabbos morning. I’m sure he was very proud to look down from Gan Eden and see his son lighting the Aliya Menorah amongst many of his friends and Rabbis and rejoice over the Chanukah miracle.

Aliya also made a weekly shiur in Reb Yosef’s memory every Tuesday night given by Reb Note Shemtov and concludes with Maariv and Kaddish by Zalmen.

The night was also filled with lots of great energy with several friends of Aliya performing, including the band “Yellow Red Sky” led by Shevach Tamir, musician and composer of the famous song “chumus” Yossi Stern, DJ Dovid Nesher.

There was a delicious milchig buffet prepared by Rebetzin Feiglin consisting of Greek salad to remember the Yevanim, pasta and cheese and pizza to remember the miracle of Yehudis, Latkes and doughnuts for the miracle of the oil and sushi to remind us that we are Jewish. The food was a real hit and definitely made the event all the more enjoyable.
