Thousands of holiday shoppers, tourists and business people in Midtown Manhattan Wednesday witnessed the sculpting and lighting of a 12 foot ice menorah in front of Chabad of Midtown Manhattan.
Situated on Fifth Avenue off 42nd Street – one of the busiest corners on earth – this event was a real example of “Persumei Nissa.”
Using chainsaws, chisels and large ice bricks, professional “ice men” sculpted the tall, exquisite ice menorah.
The Menorah was lit by famed fashion designer Elie Tahari, whose showroom overlooks the Chabad of Midtown Fifth Avenue Center. He is a frequent attendee at Chabad of Midtown events and a close friend of the Shluchim Rabbi Yehoshua and Brocha Metzger.
Hundreds of menorahs, doughnuts, dreidels and latkes were distributed to the crowds in attendance.
