Excitement is in the air amongst N’shei Chabad of Pittsburgh as they prepare to host the 53rd N’shei UBnos Chabad Winter Convention Retreat.
Over 100 women have volunteered their time and talent to make this project a success. “It’s really amazing to see so many women come together for such a great cause,” says Mrs. Chanie Rosenblum, one of the coordinators of the event.
It’s been 22 years since the convention was last held in Pittsburgh. At that time there were 20 women involved in organizing the event. The large group of women working now, reflect the growing, bustling community that Pittsburgh has become.
With a theme that focuses on the many facets of “light” within Torah, women are bound to return home inspired and rejuvenated, “glowing” from within and without. Each day focuses on a different light– from the light of Chassidus to the light of Geula, from the light of Chanukah to the light of Royalty. Sunday will encapsulate all of these lights, focusing on a woman’s personal light from within.
With scholar-in-residence Rabbi Yossi Jacobson, and guest speakers including Rabbi Manis Friedman, Rabbi Yosef Deren, Rabbi Yossi Rosenblum and keynote speaker, Mrs. Rivki Hazan, these topics may be understood and internalized in a new way.
Rus Devorah Wallen is sure to interest the crowd with her workshops on emotional wellbeing and holistic practice, according to Torah. She plays her guitar at a Kumzitz “Our Journey in Story and Song”. Renowned speaker Mrs. Sara Karmely will focus on strengthening family relationships. Sarah Karmely will be available for one-on-one mentoring sessions, throughout the weekend. Dr. Miriam Grossman will share her personal story as well as her bold and brilliant insights, and Mrs. Elana Bergavoy of the Chicago Shidduch Group will lead a shidduch networking session.
Pittsburgh is blessed with an abundance of local talent which will be represented at the convention. Leah Herman presents the Torah perspective of “The Five Languages of Love”. Mrs. Nami Friedman, Assistant Principal at Yeshiva Girls School, will teach the deeper meaning of Aishes Chayil and Rabbi Eli Rubin of Chabad.org, will share Chassidic insights. The convention program offers a packed and diverse schedule of events.
In addition, the entertainment committee is hard at work to ensure the convention appeals to all senses. With help from Amy Guterson, Tzohar seminary director and seasoned actress and director, the committee has pulled together some of the greatest talents from across the spectrum. Highlights include famed pianist Mrs. Mirele Rosenberger, Kol Shira singing ensemble, humorous skits, Niggunim, meditation, aerobics, art therapy, an a capella workshop, and theatre games and improvisation.
With delicious food and opportunities for fun and relaxation to top things off, this convention promises to give participants just what they need to “step into the light” and bring Moshiach now! Take advantage of the Early Bird Special, register by Nov 25th.
