To all you younger guys out there who missed this link in history: I remember Zalman Goldstein’s music tapes (what’s that?) creating the history of Jewish music, way before jewish music became so popular (a new cd every week). Back in those days we all remembered what Jewish-flavored music sounded like. Zalman Goldstein kept to that sensitivity from then and until his new CDs today. Today, too many artists lost that touch… 🙁

I was at the concert when it was performed and it was an incredible experience. I brought my father who was 79 at the time and he was emotional the whole evening weeping and dancing in his place. The joy this gave him I can’t describe in words. We were sitting among at least 2500 people of all walks of life, from every community. The majesty of a 60-piece orchestra pounding out the Rebbe’s father’s Hakofos niggun, then RC Kislev Nigun, and Napoleon’s march, etc etc was only eclipsed by the emotional niggunei hisvaadus delicately painted by the string and… Read more »
