Republican Charlie Baker held one last political rally on Monday before polls opened Tuesday morning in his second attempt to win the Massachusetts gubernatorial race.
The businessman and former CEO of Harvard Pilgrim Health Care is facing Democratic Attorney General Martha Coakley in a race to succeed outgoing Governor Deval Patrick.
“All I really wanted to do here is make state government work better,” he said. “We have a far richer and more varied and better set of life and prof experiences to make it happen for the people of Massachusetts.”
To wrap his the campaign, Baker returned to his hometown of Swampscott where he was joined by his family and cheered on by friends and supporters.
One of them was Rabbi Yossie Lipsker, Director of Chabad Lubavitch of the North Shore in Swampscott, who is Baker’s neighbor.
Seen on live footage on the NECN TV network, Baker and Rabbi Lipsker were seen sharing a hearty hug and a few words.
