On a sunny day last week, hundreds of Jewish families in Brooklyn’s Crown Heights neighborhood received food staples for the upcoming month of Jewish High holidays.
The food was given out from two trailer trucks parked in front of the home of Mrs. Devorah Scheiner, who runs the Yom Tov fund to help the needy and the disadvantaged in the community.
600 boxes of chicken, fish, cheeses and other foods were distributed in an organized fashion.
A full breakfast was spread out to welcome those who waited, and many expressed their gratitude for what will now be a joyous holiday for their families.
“We spend sleepless nights worrying about the poor and needy in our community,” said Mrs. Scheiner, who works tirelessly all year to cover expenses for the fund. “We are glad that we are able to help the people and we ask the public to help cover the costs.”
The distribution was in memory of Betzelel ben Freida, Rashi bas Chaim Meir and in the merit of all the people who need a refuah shleima.

If you didn’t get food, or if you are not in the list from Simchas Shabbos and Yom tov, you can get a certificate good for Empire Kosher. I think that the maximmum certificate is for #200.There is a limited avalibility
you send an email to [email protected] ,ANONYMOUS,(specify for how much until$200) if there is still avalibilty ,you get an email reply, then you send your name, and they send you an e mail certificate
!!!

I’m your neighbor and friend and from the outside you wouldn’t believe that I need assistance. Yes I work and no I don’t have food stamps section 8 or Medicaid. I can’t put food on the table this yomtov and have no where to turn. how do I get hep?
this is soo nice of mrs scheiner to care about ppl in the community. how can ppl who need the help get on to her list?
go basya
I think what Mrs. Scheiner does is wonderful but 1. I am a needy person and didn’t know about this and 1. many needy people do not have cars ad it’s a bit embarrassing to come with a cart or stroller and take food and cart is home. I think giving is wonderful but should be done in a kavodike way.
great job!
love you

Thank you soooo much to Mrs. Schiner and all her devoted helpers! I saw first hand how she gave with a full heart! And she made sure that we all had some nourishing food as we waited! That is something I will never forget! I’m sure she was up at the crack of dawn for this tremendous project! What a special lady!
