Visitors who land at New York’s Kennedy airport are already familiar with the following scene:
“What is the purpose of your visit?” asks the Immigration Department official, stationed at the border of the United States of America.
“Rebbe,” is the usual reply of the Chosid – and the clerk regularly nods in comprehension, knowing exactly what they are referring to – Lubavitch Headquarters at 770 Eastern Parkway, where thousands visit yearly to spend the Tishrei month.
But one morning this week, a Lubavitcher bochur was in for a surprise.
Landing at JFK, he handed his passport to the offical at the border. She leafed through his passport and found a picture of the Lubavitcher Rebbe in one of the pages.
“I have a picture of him too,” she said. “And I carry it on the other side of this tag,” she said, showing him the photo behind her ID tag.
The Lubavitcher Rebbe encouraged the publicizing of the 7 Noahide laws – universal laws and a morality code – which form the basis of civilization. All descendents of Noah, i.e. all of humanity, are required to follow these laws.

COL- perhaps a little journalistic integrity couldn’t hurt.

In my passport was a picture of the Rebbe. Unfortunately in the handling of the passport the picture fell out, onto the floor. I started to climb over the scale to retrieve the picture when the Check-in lady Janice stopped me. Not to worry she said… Read more »
