After marching with the West Indian Day Parade on Eastern Parkway on Monday afternoon, Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams turned to Kingston Avenue for campaigning and eating.
Lots of eating to be precise.
Wearing a sky blue polo shirt with the emblem of his office, Adams and his entourage were all smiles while greeting residents and visiting Jewish owned eateries and food establishments in the neighborhood.
“This is Jesse Hamilton. He’s running for State Senator to replace me,” he repeated throughout the visit, touting the man he wants to occupy his former seat at the New York State Senate.
Hamilton, an attorney and longtime Department of Finance employee, hopes to be the Democratic nominee for the 20th District which covers Crown Heights, parts of Brownsville, Prospect Heights, Gownaus, Boro Park and Flatbush’s Prospect Lefferts Gardens.
His opponent is Rubain Dorancy, a former official with the Department of Education. Running for the Conservative ticket is Mendy Raitport, a Jewish meat store owner.
Adams and Hamilton first visited “Sweet Expressions,” an ice cream parlor, where they were met by Assemblyman Karim Camara, Crown Heights Jewish Community Council chairman Zaki Tamir, and local business owners Barry Sugar and Mendy Lipsker.
They continued to take a route down Kingston Avenue to Gombo’s Bake Shop and then Sushi Spot, a favorite kosher sushi enterprise in Brooklyn, all while chatting with locals and handing out election flyers.
At Kol Tuv Supermarket, they walked up and down the aisles. “Good to see a politician coming to the streets,” one resident commented to them. At Empire Grill and Prime Sandwich they got to taste some of their dishes, like most places they visited.
“I really enjoyed the opportunity to really get to know the community,” Hamilton told COLlive.com. “I can’t wait to come back to Crown Heights and look forward to representing the community.”
With such good food, who wouldn’t want to come back.

he’s the only one that stands with us when things get tough.
when the politicians come to our community for our votes, we should make it clear its not business as usual, our community members are being attacked on the street, we can only support them if they deliver the goods i.e make sure the cops take the knockout attacks more serious, and put an end to it, a good start would be, not to release these thugs when they are caught!!
all of you besides #2 have amnesia.
All the politicians just walked by the neighborhood who else stopped to visit the the community? Anybody?
Guess what he has helped our community more often then most other politicians and recently made a couple of Ill advised moves that shouldn’t make us forget his longer positive history.
has he put any money into any of our moisdos?
Hon Eric Adams is a stand up man. A leader amongst leaders.
Isn’t this the guy who kicked Yackov Goldstein off the board and schedules meetings on Friday night so that Jews cannot attend? Yet we will do anything to get a photo op with him
These pics actually look both fun and genuine which isn’t a compliment I hand out often when commenting about politicians.
