@#2, so true, I share your sentiment, but I do believe if you want change, you must fight for it. To give because others have done a bad job, does not bring the change we all need. I share many of the feelings expressed here. But if Crown Heights wants to be heard by the politicians, we must be seen and act respectful. CH has had a bunch of clowns for the last 35 years, which is why we get dumped on, ignored, and barely represented… Proof, all the “can do” ppl in our community have no interest in working… Read more »

It was advertised on Collive asking Jews to come so that when we complain that they don’t do enough for the Jews we could at least show that we came and participated, not just calling on them when we need favours…

Why wasn’t the Jewish community there? As a matter of fact, I see in the photos a certain segment of the community that WAS there. Because of COLlive’s ad, I went to this debate. I’ve never been to any kind of political meeting of this type in my life, and I’m no youngster. While the questioners did a great job, I came away feeling as uninformed as before because the candidates’ answers were so vague and general. Going was the “right thing” to do, but how am I supposed to convince myself to go to future events of this kind?

very simple

People didn’t come because they have loss trust in politicians. They talk and talk and talk but when it comes to action nothing happens. I challenge the candidates to bring back that trust by pushing for the things we really need and care about. Safety, school vouchers, affordable housing etc. Untill you are ready to go on a crusade for us there is no point in coming to hear you speak. We have done that too many times with almost nothing to show for it. The question is not why didn’t we come, the question is why YOU didn’t care… Read more »
