Rabbi Isaac Jalusi, Director of the Tiferes Zekeinim Chabad center in Lauderhill, Florida, recommends not putting the Tefillin away, even after you put them on in the morning.
While making his rounds in the city of Sunrise, Rabbi Jalusi’s car broke down. He called AAA Emergency Roadside Assistance and waited for the tow truck to help him back on the road.
Arriving to assist him was a friendly man named Aron.
A quick conversation revealed to Rabbi Jalusi that the man in front of him is Jewish and although he was born in Israel, he never put on Tefillin in his life.
“Hashgacha protis, Divine Providence, always works,” Rabbi Jalusi said, and helped arrange a roadside Bar Mitzvah for the man.
And his recommendation to fellow Lubavitchers: “You must be prepared for it. Do not leave your home without Tefillin, money for tzedaka and an attentive heart.”
I always wonder why we generally don’t ask for contact information after putting on tefilin (or other mivtzo’im) so that we can stay in touch and get them more involved.
you did a great job..you are a true shliach and a good friend
