As Operation Protective Edge entered its fiftieth day, a rocket slammed into a residential neighborhood in Ashkelon on Tuesday morning, causing damage to several homes.
A rocket fell a few meters from the home of Rabbi Shmuel Gruzman, CEO of Chabad institutions in Ashkelon, causing extensive damage throughout his home.
All the windows of the house were smattered with only one window remaining intact. Glass and shrapnel were scattered throughout the house and caused extensive property damage.
“All the children have been trained to run immediately to the shelter, so even though it was early in the morning, thank G-d no one in the house was injured,” Rabbi Gruzman said.
“We are seeing miracles from up close, and it gives us strength to continue to encourage and strengthen other residents of the city,” he said.
The home of Ashkelon Shliach Rabbi Shneur Lieberman sustained extensive damage as well, with many shattered windows.
Rabbi Mendel Lieberman, Head Shliach of Ashkelon, visit both homes to see the damage up close.
51 people, neighbors of the Shluchim were wounded by shrapnel, glass and are suffering from shock.
The Shluchim immediately mobilized to encourage and strengthen the residents.
