For some in New York, the conflict in Gaza has become personal – and pro-Israel supporters made their voices heard Monday.
At precisely 12 p.m. on Monday thousands from around the world said the words of “Shema,” one of the most important parts of the daily Jewish prayer ritual, at the same time to pray for peace in Israel.
Others chanting “Am ysroel chai” — “The people of Israel live” — as what police estimated to be a crowd of 10,000 gathered near the United Nations in support of Israel and its efforts to protect itself from rockets fired by Hamas, CBS 2’s Marcia Kramer reported.
“We cannot have any cease-fire before Israel gets rid of Hamas’ weapons, the tunnels, the rockets and everything else,” U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer said.
Many of the speakers attacked the UN for not supporting Israel.
Congressman Steve Israel said he’s sending a letter to the UN signed by 106 congressmen demanding that they not investigate Israel for war crimes, Kramer reported.
“Give that up,” Rep. Israel said. “We will not take the United Nations seriously unless they take Hamas war crimes seriously.”
Israel’s ambassador to the UN agreed. Saying the message to the UN should be, “There will not be peace until Hamas’ infrastructure is going to be destroyed,” Ron Proser said.
”Chachamim haim l’hara, u’lhaitiv lo yada’u.” What a far cry their collective voices and actions are from the message on the Isaiah Wall. No matter, Yishayahu’s prophecy will yet happen despite them. May it be soon!
it feel so good to see all those people standing up for Isreal at the UN
It was wonderful to see the calm, focused and respectful audience – single minded in their support for Israel – Am Yisrael Chai – and the prayer of all – Shalom al Yisrael – a very proud New Yorker with strong ties to Israel
You have no idea how heartening it is to read this & see these pictures. It means a lot to us who are living through booms from Gaza, Iron Dome interceptions, R”L successful rocket landings, not to mention sirens. All your Tefillot & donations to the soldiers, their families & the victims makes a huge difference to the morale down South. But don’t be afraid to visit, it is perfectly safe, we are going all over the country (with the exception of the south.) Israel is waiting for you!!
There should have been a larger Chabad presence there showing our jewish unity and support for each other.
I was so proud to be there.
Surely there were tefillin stands? Can it be possible that collive would not put pics of that ?
Yeah. Those folks were from Saudi Arabia. We didn’t punish them.
So so so proud to be part of such a nation. Am yisrael chai
Aibishter! We are united. Please bring Moshiach NOW!
Hope the cangaroo court in UN saw this clearly. What a bunch of morons. At least , there won’t be any Europe left within the next 30 years. Moshiach Now!!!!
Anyone who is on the side of Israel’s enemies is on the side of terror- because they choose to be. Every one knows who crashed those planes into the twin towers. And everyone knows it wasn’t Israel. Everyone knows it is exactly the kind of terror that the current enemies of Israel practice. We don’t need to prove anything to anyone.
