This year, around 1,000 Jews in Germany attended a set of special shiurim given in honor of Gimmel Tammuz.
The shiurim were organized as part of the Euro Shiur project run by the European Jewish Study Network, which is under the leadership of Rabbi Sholom Liberow.
Many shluchim wanting to provide a shiur on this special day had to spend much time and effort on finding a suitable speaker, coordinating the available dates, and working out all of the logistical details. The effort involved encouraged Rabbi Liberow, director of the European Jewish Study Network (EJSN), which is located in Brussels, to arrange a monthly series of shiurim given by top speakers.
Every month, hundreds of Jews around Europe attend the shiurim, which are given in a range of languages.
For Gimmel Tammuz, with the help of the shluchim in Germany, shlucha Mrs. Leah Liberow arranged a series of shiurim in Russian for the many immigrants from the CIS that live in Germany today.
Rabbi Michael Koritz was the speaker, and he gave the shiurim in a number of cities, including Dusseldorf, Cologne, Frankfurt, Dresden, Munich, Nuremberg, and Karlsruhe.
The European Jewish Study Network, which is run under the auspices of the European Jewish Association, also arranges Shabbat and weekend programs around Europe.
