Women Begin Kids Tznius Contest
Illustration photo

A group of Crown Heights women have begun a Tznius campaign for girls with great prize incentives, in the merit of the safety of Israel. Find out how to join.

EAT ICE CREAM AND HELP ISRAEL?

FIND OUT HOW!

AS WAR RAGES IN THE HOLY LAND. JEWS AROUND THE WORLD SAY TEHILIM. IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE WE CAN DO TO HELP OUR BROTHERS IN THEIR TIME OF NEED?

A GROUP OF WOMEN IN CROWN HEIGHTS SAY YES.

Inspired by talks of the Rebbe on how Jews around the world can influence the safety of the Yidden in Eretz Yisrael, PROJECT EDEN was born. And YOU can join, too!

PROJECT EDEN has a three-pronged effect: Firstly, it involves KIDS, Tinokos Shel Bais Rabban, our guarantors whom we turn to in times of trouble (think: 22 thousand children in the times of Mordechai and Esther). It’s all about ACHDUS – One nation, united, wherever we may be, giving of ourselves to help Israel. Thirdly, it’s about TZNIUS- our sure-fire protection.

HERE’S HOW IT WORKS:
Starting Sunday, 22 Tammuz (July 20) until Monday, 8 Av (August 4), Every girl who comes to day camp dressed in Tznius attire (i.e. clothing which keep necklines, elbows, knees and feet covered at all times) will receive an EDEN card. Eight such cards entitle a girl to a free ice cream at Sweet Expressions or the Ice Cream truck. All cards will be entered into a raffle for a $100 gift certificate at Sweet Expressions or Hamafitz Judaica.

The drawing will IY”H be held on 18 Elul, the winners being announced on COLlive.

So, your kids will Eat ice cream, while helping Defend Eretz Yisrael Now – EDEN for short. What can be better than that? Taam Gan Eden!

AND HERE’S WHAT YOU CAN DO:
UNITE to make a difference! Aside from encouraging all those happy campers to take part in this exciting contest, you can help this project reach as many camps as possible!

You can sponsor a child, a bunk, or any amount! Please e-mail tzniuscontest@gmail.com or call 718-290-0916 TODAY, so we can set to work setting up this project, ASAP. TIME IS SHORT! ACT NOW.

One thing is missing
This is lovely campaign and Eretz Yisroel should be protected by the merit of these girls. One thing: the clothes should be loose and not form fitting, that's the trick. Hatzlocha raba!

It's about time
We are living in a generation and community where unfortunately tznius is not as crucial and important as allways was and must be. And the biggest prob. Of all is that LUBAVITCHER MOTHERS are dressing their children with terrible standards and if nothing is done about it now, it might cv"s become our new standerds

higiyah zman, yasher koach
Keep up the good work and please extend it to the adults who are the root of the problem, including all the girls looking for shiduchim. They don't seem to get that if they are not tsnius they will not get a chasidishe husband.

Beautiful idea
Positive is always the way to go ! Kids want to do the right thing .as a teacher I often see students very confused when learning abt tzneus .they want to do what's right but their parents often buy them things that are no tzneus.

Thank you from Israel!
Every mitzva you do, especially from kids, helps us & raises morale. we personally are not in the hardest hit areas, but our brothers & sisters are going through hell down south. This is a beautiful thing & it is great to see all the camps joining together. Mechayil el chayil, keep praying for Eretz Yisrael.

When writing in English...
...please use the word "leg." The entire leg needs to be covered. Not just the "foot." "Fus" in Yiddish is the source of the issue.

Question
How are they measuring tznius? Most people in CH dress nominally tznius even if it doesn't fit the spirit of the law and they look like models.
And what of the girls who will be embarrassed because they weren't deemed tznius by the counselor? Little girls' clothes are chosen by their mothers...and making a girl feel embarrassed can turn her off from tznius (and Yiddishkeit) entirely.

I like the idea but am not sure this is the right way to do it.

And p.s., I am a tznius fanatic.

a contest for the mothers
Great idea. They should dress tznius after camp hours too.Maybe a prize for mothers who dress tznius that their camp tuition or yeshiva tuition will be paid for one child

I'm married to a chassidishe man and he supports our family. doesn't have to be a contradiction. wanting a working husband doesn't mean you have to be a bum. having standards and living life according to torah is essential for a happy marriage, regardless of what type of guy you want.

How about a tznius campaign for the men...
Our teenage boys are looking up to u and the whole modern look of the young married men is not befitting a lubavicher chossid!

Tznius is plain HALACHA !! not a minhag & not a hidur mitzva or chasidish....there are many working boys even professionals that are looking for tznius girls!!

Who came up with the idea? It amazing!
This is amazing just the idea behind it-for Eretz yisroel is inspiring for the adults too!and now that the days r hot now ice cream is the perfect thing!

Fed up
Getting quite sick of walking the streets of CH! It's enough already! This is a chassidisher community bringing up a lot of kids kah - if u don't like it the way it's ment to be just move out! Go andake ur owns schools, Shuls shops and the rest and do whatever u want but just not here! And btw it doesn't even look good. No ones interested so I don't know who ur dressing up ( down ) for!

I don't think that would be necessary. They are less of the problem.

The obsession with forcing tzniyus in this community is making the issue worse
How about a campaign for Ahavas Yisroel and Middos Tovos? The main flaw which has infiltrated the Crown Heights community is snobby, nasty, and rude behavior. Adults, children.... it's contagious. If we could all just learn to treat each other respectfully and greet each other with a smile maybe we could help all of Klal Yisroel.

Straight Halacha - Torah Hashkafa
#18 proves the confusion... Know the halochos and then you will realize that tznius is not a contradiction to anything in the world! Quite to the contrary, more tznius more Syatta D'shmaya = more hatzlocha all around!!
Wake up Yidden - invite the Shchina and that will bez"H herald Moshiach; may we be zocheh NOW!

modern boys
I had many boys who are on the modern side (touch beards etc) tell me they want a girl who dress tzniusdik, Men dont like when girls flaunt it for all to see. They are embarrased by it. I still have to hear the boy tell me they want a girl who wears short skirts etc...

good idea
But as a suggestion for a child who may not own Tznius clothing G-d forbid, maybe there could be a stack of tznius clothing available that a child could take home and wear to camp. It's the mothers who usually choose the young kids cloths. I'm sure your intention is not to make kids blamed for their (parents) choice of a wardrobe!

This is beautiful. Though I should point out that I only allow my girls to eat ice cream with a spoon. It is a lot more aidele. together we can build a spiritual iron dome.

Tznius for men and for women
Since when did Tznius become synonymous with woman? Tznius applies to men as much as to women. This Posuk that the Rebbe quotes talks about the ‘camps’ of the army, which consists of men (not of women), and the Posuk clearly says that the Tznius will be in the ‘camp’ (of men) then hashem will protect.

True, the Rebbe spoke this Sicha to women, but you cannot exclude the simple meaning of the Posuk which talks about and to men. All the Rebbe does, is to include women to give them the Zchus and to add them also to help in the protection of the army camps.

Perhaps if we would stop misapplying the concept of Tznius to be something that applies only to women, and men will stop talking down to women about ‘their’ lack of Tznius, the entire Tznius scene will change for the better, because words of truth penetrate the heart, as opposed to misrepresentation of Halacha and concepts of halacha which leads only to confusion and failure.

May we succeed in creating this ‘camp’ where Hashem can accompany us and protect us all.

Rebbe's Mivtza: Tznius helps protect Jews in Eretz Yisrael
The Rebbe said this in an address to N'shei Chabad. While you are right, as Bilaam did not affect the tzniut of the ladies but the men, but here the Rebbe seems to be referring to how ladies can affect Israel's divine security. Plus there is a second sicha someplace where the Rebbe said the same thing (1973?) also to women.

you are right. If there is a girl who is inspired by this campaign, and wants to be dressed b'tznius, maybe we can set up an exchange - bring in a relatively new short skirt, and exchange it for a kosher one. I would be willing B"N to donate the cost of several kosher skirts, and I'm sure many others will be willing to do the same. Who can organize this?
