Abita was a true chosid, mekushar to the rebbe, and full of Simcha. His connections with Lubavitch else, as much as non chabad ppl, were very strong. He always represented chabad in a real way. A proud chosid, that never had an issue expressing his opinions. We will miss you….
So sad.
A fine man.
We spent many Tishres together.
The last time he did a job for my father, he refused payment and asked instead that he send the money to the Shliach in Japan!

such a sweet man,always with a smile
As I walk home every Friday night from shul he always gave me and my father a big heartwarming hug, asked us how we were and always invited us to his home for the meal. It’s truly sad that he’s not with us anymore, he was really a loving member of our community and a friend, he will be missed. Baruch Dayen haemes.
Meir had a message. The Rebbe is Moshiach and he is on his way. Tell the world and give Tzedaka. We will miss you greatly!
Meir Abitan had the strongest belief in the Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach in L.A., bar none. He always had kind and encouraging words to say especially about the love the Rebbe gave to all Yidden. He brought me to Bais Menachem two years ago and I finally realized what The Rebbe really is. He did not just say slogans like so many, rather he lived it constantly. The Abitan Family has what to be proud of for all eternity. I will miss him forever.

When he saw me with my young son in the bakery on Pico, he introduced himself to my son, congratulated him for traveling so far to go to Cheder, told him which cookies are good and then without us seeing gave the clerk a $20 bill.
I hope that his kindness will come back to his family thousandfold: they will need it. i hope he will not have to be a gute beter for Moshaich to come for very long.

For those that knew Meir Abitan, he was a very talented carpenter.
He was hired once by a Shul to make there Aron Kodesh.
After he started designing the Ark, they requested that he make the Luchos round and not square.
When he found out about this he quit the job like a real Chossid, because he would chas vshalom make round Luchos when the rebbe wanted square Luchos.
