For over a year, a regular shiur/Melave Malka has been taking place in Crown Heights for Bais Rivkah High School teachers, looking to fulfill the Rebbe’s directive to learn about the topic of Moshiach and Geulah.
It is the initiative of Mrs. Shterna Spritzer, Mrs. Shterna Krinsky and Mrs. Shterna Zirkind, teachers at Bais Rivkah, in memory of Rabbi Yitzchok Zirkind OBM who worked at the school.
The group meets regularly at different homes to learn about topics related to Moshiach and the ultimate redemption.
About two months ago, one of the monthly shiurim was held at the home of teacher and lecturer Mrs. Miryam Swerdlov.
Speaking at the gathering was veteran educator Mrs. Leah Kahn, wife of the preeminent Chabad scholar Rabbi Yoel Kahn, who discussed the urgency of the times, how we must do all we can to bring about the redemption.
One of the suggestions was to intensify the learning with a weekly conference call.
Later that week, Mrs. Swerdlov and Mrs. Kahn’s nephew, Rabbi Yisroel Butman, Head Shliach of Nahariya in Israel, became ill, and Mrs. Zirkind suggested that the conference call shiurim be established in his merit. Tragically, he passed away only a week later at the age of 55, and the calls continued in his memory.
When they organized the conference call in honor of Beis Nissan, it was decided that they would open the call to all women from around the world.
Speakers included Rabbi Shlomo Majeski – Mashpia and dean of the Machon Chana Women’s Institute in Crown Heights, Mrs. Sheindel Tiechtel – Principal of Bais Rivkah High School, Mrs. Miryam Swerdlov, and Mrs. Menucha Schochet of Los Angeles.
“We want everyone to be able to join; it’s convenient, from your home, with a phone call,” said Mrs. Krinsky.
“The Rebbe said, ‘In order to cause the revelation and coming of Moshiach, it is incumbent upon each and every Jew to increase in learning Torah in matters of Moshiach and redemption’ (Shabbos Parshas Tazria Metzorah 5752). Doing so hastens its coming and changes our mindset so we begin to live it. It is a taste and preparation for learning the Torah of Moshiach, and it makes us yearn for it more.
“How amazingly powerful is it that women around the world are learning about Moshiach and Geulah together,” she added.
The weekly conference call shiur will be given by Rabbi Shlomo Majeski.

Shiur 4: Sichas Tazria-Metzorah 5751: The Rebbe said that the best way to bring Moshiach today is by learning inyanie Geula Umashiach.
Shiur 5: Sicha Achareimos Kedoshim 5751. We learn that the same letters that constitute the word Golus also constitute the word Geula. We only need to add the Aleph into our lives.
