The crepes came via Europe, the entertainment straight from Australia. The atmosphere? Classically warm Crown Heights.
This past Motzoei Shabbos, The Beis Medrash Women’s Circle celebrated their second anniversary in style. 120 women attended the lavish melava malka, and there was something for everyone.
A bountiful buffet by Pomodori and Sushi Spot II and made-to-order crepes by Sarah Newman of Antwerp kept everyone gastronomically satiated.
A compelling talk about personal growth, complete with tales from the trenches, was presented by Mrs. Chana Ginsburg. And the singing duo, Rivka Leah Cylich and Chaya Sara Weiss, rounded out the program.
It was an evening of camaraderie and shared accomplishment: attendees, representing a wide swath of our community, joined to celebrate the weekly classes and regular programming they have come to love.
“A lot of people complain that everyone moves out of Crown Heights to do shlichus, but there are so many local people who would benefit from lectures, discussions, and interactive workshops,” commented Mrs. Avigail Gribov after the event. “No one did anything: they just complained. Well, you filled the void! I am very proud to be a little part of this amazing team.”
The evening also represented the culmination of two successful fundraising campaigns Baruch Hashem. The Shoe-In Campaign raised a significant amount of money due to the kindness of Women’s Circle participants and friends. In addition, each table at the dinner was sponsored in honor of a special woman: their story and inspiration brightened the room.
Each participant left with a warm glow and a perfectly-packed mug filled with winter’s delights.
The Women’s Circle is thrilled to thank their generous donors for enabling their growth and success. Without the generosity of Pomodori, Sushi Spot, First Quality, Sterling Electronics, Mimulo, Beautiful Fabrics, The Printhouse, and Zakons, these programs would not be possible.
Join the Women’s Circle for their first special event of the new season: brunch with Shlucha Miriam Lipskier, co-founder and director of the Chabad Student Center at Emory University, in honor of Chof-Beis Shvat this Sunday, January 26, at 10:30 AM.
Mrs. Lipskier will discuss how her attitude changed her view on life during her speech titled, “Half-full or another glass to wash? Depends on your perspective.” A delectable dairy brunch will be served at 667 Crown St. $8 admission. RSVP appreciated at [email protected] or via Facebook: The Beis Medrash Women’s Circle.

Are these programs for all women of CH or only for those who belong to the Beis Medrash?
What a great evening. Inspirational speaker, with a most meaningful message. “Caretaking Ourselves”
Musical entertainment top notch, lovely atmosphere, flowers, tablecloths, cloth napkins much appreciated,
a bountiful variety of delicious food and amazing desserts Great company all around. So glad I drove in from Boro Park. Thank you Women’s Circle….
This was open to all, as in CH residents…The shlichus is in reference to the amazing work Chanel and Devora do as Shluchos locally in CH!!
This caption is spot on: shlichus in crown heights. This looks like the kind of even made by shluchim to cater to their baalei batim, only in this case it’s for local “frum” women. Thanks for sharing this inspirational article, and of course kudos to the people running the program!
The fruits of your labor are truly exquisite. May you be blessed with many more years dedicated to the wonderful women of Crown Heights.
Looks wonderful. I would love to see more events like this for the everyday, nonofficial shluchas of the world.
