It’s kosher, has a ‘K’ in its name, but isn’t dairy.
The owners of three popular kosher dairy restaurants in Brooklyn and Manhattan are making a foray into the glatt kosher dining industry with a new restaurant on Coney Island Avenue.
Ami and Shimon Liani, the Crown Heights residents who run Cafe K and Cafe K – 18 of Brooklyn and Cafe K of Manhattan, have now branched out into meat with Gourmet K, promising to offer elegance in decor and dishes.
The new restaurant, which opened this week, features an inviting warm decor with exposed brick alongside deep red colored walls with gold accents, dim lighting and bamboo ceiling.
They told COLlive their menu is “hearty yet upscale, comfort food with elegance,” such as cream of corn soup with a bit of a kick, and a generous grilled hanger steak with mashed potatoes and string beans in a shallot and red wine sauce.
Other dishes that caught our eye on the menu were chicken strips in coconut sauce, rib eye steak with asparagus and chimmichuri sauce and a phyllo dough stuffed with spinach.
The dessert menu doesn’t disappoint, with homemade hot chocolate souffle with a mixed berries sauce, fruit tart with vanilla custard and fresh fruits, and sweet pears baked in red wine, to name a few.
“The food, the atmosphere, and exceptional service all add up to the perfect place for an elegant dinner with family or friends,” said Shimon Liani. “We look forward to welcoming all of you to our new home,” he said.

I went there with my wife!
Awesome food, great atmosphere.
Hope to go again.
Went with my wife and friends last Sunday. From the beginning to the end our experience there was exceptional. Nice touch with aioli and chimichuri sauce in the beginning. Then we ordered corn soup and kale salad. Guacamole on the soup was very Southwestern like and I loved it. Kale salad was dressed perfectly. For main we had Cornish hen, steak and lamb chops. Got to tell you portion size is enough to eat there and to take home some. Taste perfect. For dessert apple tart Tatin is a must. Good job guys and good luck. Will be back soon.
We (2 couples) had visited this restaurant on Sunday. Great quiet atmosphere. Perfect for romantic dinner or for a dinner with friends. Menu has variety of dishes for every taste. Food is delicious. Loved the soup and the rib eye steak. Thank you for a great meal and relaxing evening. Will definitely come back.
