Over 600 women gathered at the Razag Ballroom in Crown Heights for a “Celebration of Womanhood” event on Monday evening.
Coordinated by Mrs. Leah Gurary and Mrs. Mina Sputz, and organized by The Beis Medrash Women’s Circle and Junior Nshei, the evening was dedicated to the understanding of effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Dr. Feigie Russ, a Brooklyn-based psychologist and marriage therapist, explained the five languages of love (the popular idea that all people experience love in one of five ways), and gave practical advice on utilizing those languages for better communication and relationships with one’s children and spouse.
Mrs. Chana Labkowski of Sao Paulo spoke on the importance of inviting Hashem into the equation of marriage and family, to ensure that we get the most out of all our relationships.
The evening ended with a live, interactive panel featuring Mrs. Sara Marazow and the two speakers, who answered questions from the audience about chinuch, tznius, hashkafa and more.
The event ended with a raffle, winner of a Milano sheitel is Chaya Gurary and winner of a piece of jewelry is Malka Edery.
Sponsored by Mikvah Mei Chaya Mushka, Kingston Toys and Stationery, Milano Wigs and local shuls and organizations.
Great program and speakers! hope all was well taken and personally applied.
interesting and very nicely presented
as a woman married for 54 years i’d like to add how i built a love relationship
1 Respect for self and others
2 Care giving is living
3 Acceptance not judgemental no name calling
4 Space each individual needs own space
5 Responsibility everyone makes mistakes forgive and forget
may each one have success in building their home with whatever works for them
that picture of the baby at the event, lovingly held by one of the organizers (chanel lispkier) is no accident. an unspoken message at the event was SURE GO AHEAD BRING YOUR SMALL BABY. of course if a baby started to cry the mom took her/him out. but it was nice to see babies welcomed. not all events understand the importance of this. it’s ironic sometimes at these events where the speakers go on and on about the importance of mothering etc etc, but you must leave your two-month-old at home to come and hear how important s/he is…
chana labkowski ‘s maiden name is gourarie – proudly south african.
we are all proud of you!
Five love languages is not a new concept.Women have to read more and get educated…
Shoulder length was wig length discussed as the tznius length.Tricky thing when most of audience have much longer wigs than that…
While we do know that “chochmo bagoyim tamin”

THE FIVE LANGUAGES OF LOVE is actually an excellent book written by a religious christian psychologist. He mentions Yushka once in a while but really the book is just good, clear advice and common sense.I don’t why the frum speakers who use the title for their lectures don’t give due credit to the author.
I heard that it will be able to be seen live on COL and on Torah Café.
can this be streamed live?
I just called BMWC and they said that this is also for single girls (shidduch age)!!
For all those asking about a live broadcast, COLlive and Torah Cafe will be streaming it live at 8:15. Enjoy!!
