The kosher status of Starbucks has always been a bit of a challenge with certain products being certified kosher and others not.
The issue became even more complex when dealing with individual stores, ranging from the non-kosher products they served to the cleaning agents, according to a discussion on Starbucks on the website of the Chicago Rabbinical Council (cRc).
But now Starbucks lovers can take heart as rumors persist that Strawberries & Crème Frappuccino and other products that contain cochineal extracts at Starbucks may soon be eligible for kosher status.
Many vegans and kosher eaters have been complaining about the extract that is used for strawberry drinks that comes from insects. Starbucks is aware of consumers that are avoiding their strawberry products and are planning to use a vegan based extract lycopene.
As for kosher customers of Starbucks, the Frappuccino’s that are bought in store are still to be avoided with the exception of the packaged version sold in many supermarkets that are all kosher except for the Strawberries & Crème frapp.
For the moment the smoothies at Starbucks is not kosher certified. If the cochineal extracts are replaced, it will no doubt receive another look by the Orthodox Union (OU) which certifies Starbucks.
Some critics of Starbucks say that the mega chain has not moved fast enough to accommodate the growing number of kosher consumers who would otherwise buy more products at Starbucks locations.

What about not following the ways of the goyim?
In todays world with allergies ask an employee if its used with anything else. You will get the most honest response out of an employee. Ask if it has been mixed with dairy; if its in contact with any food; process of how they wash things, etc. you can do some investigating of your own there if you are doubtful. I recomend this only to people who when traveling, starbucks is most likely to have the least issues of any other store. Im not saying this as a solution because its not. Its to help quell any doubts you might… Read more »
this is all very misleading and now alot of starbucks offer hot food. all of the coffee machine components and the components that heat up the triefe food are put in the same dishwasher. call the CrC in chicago for more info
Strawberry and Creme frapp was always koh k dairy, the problem is not in the hechsher but the preparation. Go to any starbucks and ask them to show you the base it will have a kosher symbol. However, there are a lot of kashruth problems with starbucks and it is surprising that collive would post this considering how many people might mistakenly think it is okay to drink at starbucks.
its not that simple.
most starbucks sell hot meat sandwiches and are mixing all the dishes together- its total treifos~
would you eat from a dish that was washed with chazir?
think twice before walking into ANY store that is not totally rabinially certified.
Haha true
Is there a list of the Starbucks products that are kosher?
Where can one find it?
The “kosher” frappacinos are all ou-d anyway, people. Removing the cochineal only makes them kosher ou-d. Calm down.
Should be http://www.crcweb.org/starbucks_intro.php
Cotton candy frap here I come!
this is not for chalav yisrael keepers!!!!
be aware and do research
the machines are not complete DE!
I know I’ll get crushed for saying this, but I wonder if the people getting excited about $6 drinks are the same people complaining about tuition.
Just saying…
not talking about coffee, but whats with the other drinks? (without milk) are they 100% kosher?
keilim still a prob
Please read the crc article at http://www.crcweb.org/starbucks_intro.php before you run to your nearest starbucks
without a hechsher, and a frum owner one should not eat from any establishment.
ihop also has many items that have kosher ingredients but we wouldn’t go in to purchase their items
ps starbucks now carries ham in most locations making it harder to know what is going on there
in south america its still not clear if starbucks is a 100 percent kosher (the kosher products). The rabbanim here say that starbucks is not ok since they use one same thermometer (they use for not kosher milk) for all the coffees…
B/4 we all get excited DO check with your source ( Rov etc)
if it is indeed Kosher for we all.know what happened years ago when people were consuming certain flavors @ Starbucks based on RUMORS that It’s all fine and KOSHER and it turned out that it was NOT Kosher
