On Sunday night a fire broke out in a house on the corner of President Street and New York Avenue in Brooklyn’s Crown Heights.
The fire began in the basement and quickly spread through the entire house, with flames shooting from the windows and the roof.
Crown Heights resident Tzvi Hirsch Spielman told COLlive he heard an elderly woman shouting for help from his home across the street.
“I ran outside and saw her yelling from the second floor window, ‘Help, call 911!'” he related.
“I ran over and helped lower her and another of the home’s occupants down from the second floor window.”
Many fire trucks arrived at the scene, where firefighters put out the blaze within an hour.

How many people lived in the house? Do they need help with anything? Even if they are not Jewish, the community should help them, if they can.
