As part of an advanced online rabbinical studies course, a dozen Chabad Shluchim from around the world are studying in Online Smicha’s new program called STAIRS – Smicha Training and Advanced Institute for Rabbinical Studies.
A partnership between OnlineSmicha.com and the Shluchim Office’s Online school, these classes are provided once a week for 90 minutes and follow the text of the Shulchan Aruch including topics from Eben HaEzer and Choshen Mishpat.
Leading it is Rabbi Nachman Wilhelm of Minnesota and it is endorsed by Rabbi Dovid Schochet, President of the Toronto Rabbinical Council and member of Vaad Rabbonei Lubavitch.
“It is simply very geshmack to be able to sit and learn from your home office–sitting at your desk with the maggid shiur that gives over leibidik shiurim, able to interact live and ask questions,” said Rabbi Meir Kirsh, a Chabad Shliach in Chelyabinsk, Russia.
“Not only am I learning the halachos inside, properly, with proper instruction,” noted Rabbi Yossi Amar, Chabad Shaliach of Seine et Marne, France. “I am also learning them with charts and all sorts of examples provided—including very, very insightful guest lecturers, Rabbonim in the field who have seen all sorts of various situations and cases both common and uncommon.”
A new STAIRS course in Hilchos Nisuin (laws of weddings) and Smachot (laws of mourning) is set to begin this Sunday, Daled Iyar.
Additional new classes starting this coming week include new tracks in Smicha with classes in Basar B’Cholov (Meat and Milk) and Ta’aruvos (Mixtures), and a new course in Hilchos Yom Tov.

Rabbi we love your class on col every week!
Yes, woman can join too. It’s Torah, and that’s for even yid – that’s what our Torah and our Rebbe taught us. However, understand that the topics are chosen to be practically used in a rabbinical position, so you may not find (some of the subject matters) very noigaya. But mitzad, learning, please join. It will certainly enhance you, your family and you klal yisroel. Mitzad “Smicha” or “Dayunus” those “official titles (for reason beyond this comment) are designated for men. However, there are other “official” titles that would certify woman as well in areas of halacha. (this is certainly… Read more »
can’t this be open to everyone
Wow, I’m not sure what to think about the fact that you’re not sure what to think about this.
We see in this weeks parshah that only a Kohein can administer the halachic ruling of Tzaras. The Rebbe taught us that any time we want to administer a ‘halachic ruling’ we must do so with the sensitivity and politeness that is exhibited by kohanim.
I think there should be a mandatory course, as a pre-requisite to the above course of the article, in proper etiquette and sensitivity when it comes to dealing with members. This includes hakaras hatov, communication and ethical responsibility to others.
Is that R. Raichik on the video?? Cool….
Does this make them dayanim?
Wow I’m not sure what to think about this.
