New Group for Single Women

A new organization has opened in Crown Heights, providing entertainment, social events and learning opportunities for local single women.

“In the Heights,” founded under the existing organization Maayan Bracha, is in memory of Shayna Bracha Borevitz obm, and is directed by Mrs. Sara Labkowski, along with volunteers Chana Perman, Chavah’le Aronow, Mushky Greisman, Chana Felberman, Eidy Matusof and Mrs. Shternie Greisman, who are working tirelessly to realize this dream and bring it to fruition. The volunteers are joined by Mrs. Tzameret Borevitz, who strongly supports this vision which she believes will do honor to her daughter’s name.

“‘In the Heights’ was founded because we recognized that Crown Heights has hundreds of single young women seeking social events, entertainment, and learning opportunities,” Chavah’le Aronow, one of the organizers told COLlive. “We aim to fill this need with a wide variety of programs, such as classes, creative and intellectual courses, dance nights, arts fairs and more.”

The plans include monthly events for girls aged 19+, and in the future, the opening of a cafe/lounge for the girls to socialize in a positive setting.

“In the Heights has a holistic approach to nourish both the body and soul of our young women,” says Aronow. “Events will combine Torah from our most inspiring teachers with lectures and presentations about health, nutrition, music, art, dance, beauty, home decorating and more.”

And she notes, “programs will always include good food and a time and place to socialize with old and new friends.”

Recently, 2 events were arranged by the same organizers (under the LINK name) which were well attended by over 300 girls collectively, in honor of Tu B’Shvat and Purim. Each occasion received rave reviews by all who joined.

Girls of all ages and backgrounds thoroughly enjoyed the ambience, food spread, set up and decor, entertainment and speakers, and were especially pleased to see their friends there and meet new ones.

The attendees were extremely excited, stayed long after the event was over to spend time with each other, and were gratified to find many others with common interests.

Organizers say they are looking for volunteers for fund raising, set-up, marketing, talents and other services which can be useful in planning and executing functions.

In addition, they welcome suggestions for future events, programs, activities, experiences, skill development, classes, projects and opportunities not offered in this community before.

The next event will take place tonight, Monday, 7 Nissan – March 18, 8:00 pm, at Beis Levi Yitzchok on the corner of Crown and Albany. This evening will be led by our very own, much sought-after speaker, Mrs. Tzameret Borevitz and will include a delectable sushi spread.
