Chabad Keeps Using DVDs
Notwithstanding their new app, JEM discovers that majority of Chabad organizations are still using physical DVDs. By COLlive reporter
Jewish Educational Media (JEM), Chabad's audiovisual company, has announced a special sale in honor of Yud Shvat, the day the Rebbe accepted leadership of Chabad-Lubavitch.
Recent research showed that physical DVDs are still far outselling the digital-only formats, and are going to be present for at least another 10 years.
So while JEM is working on launching a new tablet app within the next several months, they are encouraging DVD sales for organizations and homes as well.
"Most organizations still maintain physical libraries only," they told COLlive.com.
The Yud Shvat sale on all their videos – between 40 and 50% off – will continue until Wednesday, January 23.
"Complete your collection of videos of the Rebbe," said Danny Freundlich of JEMs membership office. "They're a tremendous resource for you, your family – and especially your children."
Freundlich noted that in recent years, institutions – such as schools and Chabad Houses – have taken the opportunity of JEM's steep sale to build lending libraries of videos of the Rebbe.
As reported last year, videos can be bought with Maasar monies.
Come by the JEM office at 784 Eastern parkway, 4th floor, Mon - Thursday 9:30 – 6:00 and Friday till 1:00 or online at JEMstore.com.
