On the Jem film Early years, this same story is told by Reb Mendel Notik, as he had heard it from the Rebbetzin Z”l. Its nice to hear the same story told here, only from the other side of the coin. I hope Jem will have the opportunity to interview this fine fellow as well!
The story was also mentioned in the Early Years DVD series by JEM. Very nice to see it in other places as well.
This info is on jem’s early years video. I highly recommend the set to everyone that considers himself/herself a chossid. Children as well a adults will enjoy every minute of it
Marseilles
yes, it seems from the article that mr. fink is bh alive and well ka’h, in antwerp.
It sure was a surprise to open my mishpacha this week to see a picture o the Rebbe!
Thanks MISHPACHA for leaving no stone unturned in researching all tzadikim
Thank you for this wonderful article. Wasn’t clear if Hotel du Levant is in Paris or Marseilles?
There”s an elder man who worked for Sam Melamed (don’t remember his name but a few people in lubav worked there with him) I once heard from him that during the war, in France, the Rebbe gathered together some boys and learned with them and he was one of these boys.
I always heard this story, but never 1st hand. Its really amazing
It is truly amazing and brings tears to my heart. It is so hard to believe that the Rebbe kept his beard and levush and was a Gaon Batorah and Masmid and was also able to save jews with the chance of risking his own life under the Vichy Regime. There is so so much we will never know about the Rebbe life in general and the early years especially. Thanks to the Fink family for sharing this amazing episode which is truly amazing!!!!
Is this Rabbi Fink still alive?
