One Happy "Family" Reunites
Ten days of winter camp for European Tzeirei Hashluchos in Sweden has just ended, reuniting friends from around Europe for friendship and inspiration.
Winter camp for European Tzeirei Hashluchos in Sweden has just ended. Ten days were packed with all the fun of camp, plus a special dose of chayus and hiskashrus and the warmth of Yaldei Hashluchos bonding with new and old friends.
"Chassidim ein mishpacha,"says Rabbi Alexander Namdar, who directs the camp with his wife, Leah. " The goal of the camp is to bring an achdus between the campers and renewed chayus in their Shlichus."
It is not uncommon for cousins to meet and get to know each other in camp and this year's winter camp even hosted young aunts who got to spend time with their nieces- sometimes in the same bunk!
"What's special about this camp is the way everyone is like just one happy family - reuniting! No matter which bunk they were in, everyone would sit and talk together, " comments Chaya L, a counselor. "The kids, even though many of them don't go to regular schools, they know so much and they are proud of growing up on Shlichus. It was really inspiring being a counselor here."
" I love camp in Sweden. The farbrengen on Friday night was totally amazing... I can't even describe it. And skiing was such fun!" said one camper.
Bassie Alperowitz from Bournemouth, England wrote:
"The awesome farbrengens, the shiurim, the activities, the delicious food, the homey atmosphere, the trips, the canteen... and just giving us the opportunity to meet other Shluchos from around Europe was really special! I am going to miss everything about camp. In these 10 days I gained so much... Really!"
"I want to thank our dedicated staff and an amazing group of the Rebbe's young shluchos," says Leah Namdar. "And a huge yasher koach to their parents- who are shluchim in often lonely outposts- for raising, by their example such incredible kids, BH!
"As a Jew who lives in Sweden, it's a very special feeling to see this" says Simcha Walter, who helps out with the camp every year. " Besides for what Chabad does all year round, it is beautiful to see this unity between the Chabad shluchim of Europe. I see the children and the wonderful time they have, and all that they learn. It's very special."
Campers and counselors attended from over 20 different locations.
Gan Yisroel for European Tzeirei Hashluchim would like to thank its camp supporters: Merkos Leinyonei Chinuch, Rabbi Yitzchak Michaan, Brazil; Fabio and Malka Gorjan, Artur Karlsbad, Bruno and Nechami Guggenheim, Eliezer Kornhauser, Eduardo Elzstain and Sam Wachtel, Miami.
Registration for the boys and girls summer camps will be opened after Purim, bezH. Camp contact: info@chabad.se
Please help us continue to provide Yaldei Hashluchin with this much needed Chinuch opportunity.
