As the 5723 year was coming to a close, Rabbi Gimpel Orimland, a rabbi in the McKee City Jewish community in New Jersey, had received tragic news.
He was told that his father and mother-in-law and his three and a half year old son Yaacov were involved in a fatal accident. His boy was in critical condition.
Rabbi Orimland rushed to the hospital where he found his son laying unconscious connected to tubes. The doctors told him that his son has a hemorrhagic brain injury.
They recommended to hold off with his father-in-law’s funeral, because “within a few hours your son will die and you can then do a joint funeral.”
The president of his synagogue advised him to call the Lubavitcher Rebbe, but being a student of the litvish leaders, the Steipler Gaon Rabbi Yaakov Yisrael Kanievsky and of the Chazon Ish Rabbi Avraham Yeshayahu Karelitz, he refused.
But once he was convinced that he had nothing to lose in such a time of need, and contacted the Rebbe’s Secretariat, things began to change for the better.
Rabbi Orimland and his surviving son Rabbi Yaacov Orimland, today Rosh Yeshivas Nishmat Shlomo (YNS) in New Jersey, shared the full story with JEM’s production about miracles.
