R’ Sol Lieberman, a Lubavitcher chossid who lived in Brooklyn’s Flatbush area, has passed away Sunday morning, 18 Kislev 5773.
He was 82 and suffered from a lengthy illness.
Born in Bilkah, Czechoslovakia, on the first day of Shavuos in 1930, Zisa Ben Tzion Lieberman and his parents and sister managed to escape the horrors of the Nazi Holocaust by boarding the Rex, the last ship to America.
A Korean war US veteran, Lieberman was determined to replenish his family exterminated in the Holocaust. He married his wife Paulette and raised a family of 6 sons and a daughter.
Lieberman worked as an attorney, but his focus was his unending love and devotion for his family. At the time of his passing he had celebrated the births of many grandchildren.
“There’s always a fight between more money and more children,” he once commented. “But I go with more children because you can love money, but it won’t love you back.”
He championed the continuity of Yiddishkeit in America and was a pillar of ‘mini’ minyanim, often standing on New York streets to find someone to complete the minyan.
He is survived by his wife Peshe Razel (Paulette) and their children Aryeh Leib, Yitzchok Isaac, Tzirel Dobah Raskin, Yisroel Dov, Lipa Yaakov Zvi, Menachem Mendel, and Shmuel Schneur Zalman and many grandchildren ky’h
The levaya will take place Sunday at Shomrei Hadas – 38th and 14th Ave in Boro Park at 1:00 pm and will pass by 770 Eastern Parkway at 2:30 pm on the way to Old Montefiore Cemetery, where he will be buried at 3:30 pm.
