Israel’s Deputy Consul General in New York Shlomi Kofman briefed Congresswoman Yvette Clarke on the battle with Gaza.

Congresswoman Yvette Clarke met with Deputy Consul General of Israel Shlomi Kofman this week, and was updated on the current volatile situation in the Middle East region.

The Deputy Consul General expressed his country's gratitude to President Barack Obama and members of congress, like Congresswoman Clarke, for their strong support for Israel’s right to defend its population.

Also in attendance at the meeting was Mr. Leon Goldenberg, the executive board chairman of the Council of Jewish Organizations of Flatbush, and Lubavitcher Eli Slavin, Community Liaison for the congresswoman.

Upon meeting Slavin, Consul General Kofman expressed his pleasant surprise that he was again encountering a Lubavitcher in the halls of government, saying that he is often a guest at the home of Washington, DC Shliach Rabbi Levi Shemtov, Director of American Friends of Lubavitch.
