It was a Lubavitcher bochur in the crowd of 93,000 at last week’s Siyum Hashas celebration at MetLife Stadium that helped thousands around the world witness the historic event.
When 21-year-old Cleveland native JJ Eleff heard that organizers were not providing a live feed from the massive event to mark the completion of the Daf Yomi learning, he decided to stream it for coworkers and friends at the Dan’s Deals forum.
Eleff, who learned in Chabad’s Yeshiva Schools of Pittsburgh and in Ohr Elchanan Chabad in Los Angeles before studying for smicha in Chovevei Torah in Crown Heights this year, used his phone and the help of UStream.com to provide a live video feed.
To his surprise, the amateur feed soon had tens of thousands watching from around the world, including thousands from COLlive.com.
It was an ironic twist that at an event which had few Chabad attendees, that a Lubavitcher was the one who provided the live stream for those who could not join, although, as Eleff pointed out “Chabad has been doing live feeds from events for 20+ years already,” he told COLlive.
“I never expected anything like this,” the technology savvy bochur told VIN News. “It was just one small act of kindness I was doing for a few friends and in the end thousands of people benefitted from it. You never know the power of one act of chesed. This whole thing is just so humbling when I realize how each of us has the potential to affect the lives of others.”

JJ, your warmth, intelligence, and depth of compassion never cease to amaze me. Keep up the good deeds! Guys, this is the man to be. Girls, this is the man to marry.
Why does anything a bochur do have to turn into. Is he single, get him married, great resume? Can’t we just call a spade a spade he is clearly a great guy and this story is inspiring to many. I’m sure when he starts looking he will find his bashert. For now can we just let him live his life and keep on doing the amazing things he does? I suppose this is connected to the whole psak that boys must get married the day they leave yeshiva… Thank you COl for the awesome stream I watched from home and… Read more »

I thought JJ was just trying to start the wave when he had his hand up.
What an amazing combination. A Lubavitcher bochur who has the appreciation for learning gemara, to be part of achdus of all o Klal Yisroel, who is going to law school but yet will be a frum chassidishe ba’alabos…. looks like a mentch, full beard, white shirt, hat and jacket who is working , and who is kind enough to video this to stream to the rest of the world. I am impressed! Hatzlacha

A great catch
I clearly meant to say it is impossible to express his qualities
But I will try. Smart, friendly, handsome, motivated, a go getter, initiative, sensitive, charming, wise , etc,…
If ” it is possible” then why don’t you do it?
It is possible to express jj’s special qualities in words.
Amazing, I always knew JJ was that amazing person, he is always there to do another Jew a favor.
“ironic twist that at an event which had few Chabad attendees”
Few Chabad attendees? Says who?
Absoluely false!
Thank you! Couldn’t be there but we really felt the Achdus and excitement from the live feed! Very nice of you to do it- hope your arm is recovered
