Campers Star in Musical Film
Campers of the 2012 Jewish Girls Retreat are stars of a new musical film bringing the stories of Holocaust survivors to life. The Jewish Girls Retreat has released the trailer of its newest film, "Miracles & Meals", filmed by the retreat's campers during the 2012 summer session.
This musical film for women and girls is adapted from true miracle stories published in the Holocaust Survivor Cookbook by Joanne Caras.
"Miracles & Meals" features three vignettes depicting families that were miraculously saved from the Holocaust and reunited with their loved ones.
The film was directed by Chaya Bialestock and filmed by Brett Wasserman of "Silhouette Art on Video". The 40-minute film is appropriate for ages 8 and up.
The Jewish Girls Retreat, directed by Rabbi Avraham and Nechama Laber, runs summer and winter retreats for Jewish girls of all backgrounds. With a focus on the arts, the retreat encourages girls to express themselves and connect to Judaism through their unique talents. "Miracles & Meals" is the fourth movie produced by the camp.
