New Center's Nod to 770

A state-of-the-art Chabad House in Kiryat Arba, set to open Tuesday in memory of the Shliach's 7 year-old daughter, honors 770 Eastern Parkway with its facade, courtyard and even roof.

Living under constant security and fear of their Arab neighbors, Jews in Chevron and Kiryat Arba will have a reason to celebrate this week when they inaugurate a new Chabad Center and complete a new Sefer Torah.

The new, state-of-the-art Bais Chaya Mushka Chabad House of Kiryat Arba, which took five years to complete at a cost of $1.3 million, will be officially dedicated on Tuesday, with rabbis and community leaders scheduled to attend.

The event will also introduce Kiryat Arba's new Shluchim couple, Rabbi Rafael and Mushka Brod. They will be joining the 4 local Shluchim families and will be in charge of programs and the administration of the new center.

The new center will be dedicated in memory of Chaya Mushka Atiya, daughter of Shliach Rabbi Victor Atiya, who tragically perished in a fire on the 20th of Av 5766 at the young age of 7.

A unique architectural twist about the new center is its references to 770 Eastern Parkway - Lubavitch Headquarters in New York. A small part of its facade features the famous 3 pointed arches, and the courtyard features a tile mosaic of the 770 building as well.

In fact, a piece of the roof from 770 in Brooklyn was built into the new center in Chevron, supplied by California's Head Shliach Rabbi Shlomo Cunin, who has been involved in 770's preservation.

The celebration will include the completion ceremony of a new Sefer Torah, dedicated by donor Ami Pykovski of Los Angeles in memory of his mother.

"All are invited to attend the festive meal, live music and joyous dancing," said the Chevron Shliach Rabbi Danny Cohen, and reminded that "there's still time to have a personal part in this historical launching."

Final dedications to furnish the building are now available and your generous donation today will be greatly appreciated. To donate click here.
