a big yasher koach goes to them, for keeping their heads cool and their comments wise. just so the facts are straight from the start, these students didnt want their names publicized, nor to be announced. zev brenner did so, but the students didnt want to. thanks to mrs teichetel for making a big kiddush lubavitch, and the "mushky from crown heights" should be ashamed of herself for making such a chilul lubavitch, on air publicly.

FACT
zev brenner asked them to come on the radio show, they didnt ask him. just keep that in mind all the ignorant comment posters who will say anything to make themselves feel smart.

Facebook = Fakebook
Dear Dovid,
Speaking about being "open-minded" you need to learn how to listen. Stop interrupting.
Also, in regards to keeping in touch. The reason I don't have fakebook is less because of religious ideology and more because i refuse to sign up for plasticity. The relationships on facebook are plastic. facebook represents the archetype of superficiality. My brother may have 200 friends on facebook but how many friends does he truly have?
I know that my friendships are true and everlasting. They are important enough to maintain despite my lack of facebook.
For me not having facebook is a choice to relate to my friends as a person, not as a webpage.

Mrs. Teichtel did a phenomenal job explaining clearly the approach of chinuch as a frum and a chabad school. lets hope that the media will choose to focus on the true facts of this situation from now on. bais rivka absolutely did the right thing.

10 points for Mushky
way to go Mushky from CH!! I'm proud of you for speaking your mind and sharing your insight as to what is wrong and broken in our schools and yeshivos-in terms of the approach and attitude in the way they educate our kids. truth be told CHASSIDUS echoes your sentiments of focusing on the positive and encouraging what to do-Ironically "these chabad schools" choose the opposite approach!?!?- Mussar-don't do this and don't do that or u will be punished etc. which only fuels the child's rebelion and desire to do it even more so!
I think if our own schools and yeshivos followed this Chassidus approach-you'd have half as many dropouts and kids who are on drugs and off the derech-as opposed to the ratio now!

Wrong!!!! It's yemin mikareves usmoil docheh. You need both. In fact there are more negative mitzvos (365) than positive ones (248).
By the way, what's wrong with schools regulating untznius behavior. Even public schools have rules to enforce modesty (such as a dress code).

Teitelbaum was arrogant
He claimed that all experts are idiots and the only real facebook expert is his glorious self. How humble! Listen to the tape where he screams he's an idiot when zev brenner quotes an expert emailing the show.

The real idiots are the parents and teachers who believe that since they banned fb, or since their kids told them the don't use facebook, that that's the case.
If you read Dovids article you'll see that when he was 17 he showed the creators of the filters how to bypass it in a minute.
He was not talking about not having rules in schools, he was talking about the need for education and enthusiastic chinuch.
The girls, especially MB, were very well spoken, however, it was very clear that they were selected from the school.
Also, like Dovid pointed out, you can't really expect to get a true statement from kids who are in school and talking live on air in front of their principle. You get the real feelings and beliefs from talking to kids when they feel safe to speak freely and openly.

27 year old shliach
I went on shlichus less then a year ago and deactivated my facebook account today. Why? Because it brings more negative to my life then positive. True it can be an aid in mivtzoim, shlichus etc. but after an honest assessment, I came to the irrefutable conclusion that it can detract from my [including shlichus] life more than contribute. Honestly, though tsnius is reason enough to deactivate acct in of in itself (especially if you are before marriage...), what really was the last straw for me was the creepiness of fb when people see more of you than that of which you are aware of.
All I can say is good riddance to facebook. And thank you Beis Rivkah girls for helping me come to decision. You did a good job representing your school last night.

actual time of the bais rifkah facebook segment
19:55 starts- til the end--- I think they have got it ALL WRONG- its barely a year since the Leby Kletsky murder when we realized that monsters can wear the garb of a frum man. Yet we don't realize by putting pics up anyone can get them. My daughter (who is not on facebook) put the name of her friend (who doesn't go to br) on google and was shocked at how much information popped up- the privacy sites are garbage (meaning people can get a hold of your info even if you put strict privacy up)and you can end up friending someone who can introduce you to garbage or can be dangerous. I don't believe in kids texting or having unsupervised internet either.

Why turn this into a media event?
On TV, on the radio.. All the Chassidish schools in Brooklyn- Boro Park & Williamsburg- don't allow the students on facebook, why should Bais Rivka have to splash themselves all over the media making this a point of focus on themselves? This publicity does not seem very tznius either. Most schools have certain limitations they impose on students to safeguard them. This is nothing unusual.

BR isnt to blame - there was only one specific blog that took the story, and blew it way out of proportion. then, bloggers and news sites copied it, the facts dramatic and incorrect, and caught the worlds eye. Zev Brenner decided to put it on air, and asked BR if they would like to have their side on the story, because otherwise it would be all negative against BR, and cause a chillul Hashem. PLEASE, PLEASE, if you dont know the true facts, do not leave ignorant comments.

the fact of the matter is
that the show had no right to host a guy who is considers himself to be a pro on this topic vs girls who had only come on to answer questions regarding the ban and relate the facts of the story. The girls cannot speak for the school and thus should have not been placed in the situation in the first place where they had to defend the reasoning for the school policy.

Mrs. Tiechtel - an example of a true Mechaneches
B"H we have educators such as true Chassidim like Mrs. Tiechtel as a principal in Beis Rivkah. Her stand for what's right and for what the Rebbe wants is an inspiration for so many. Thank you Morah Tiechtel for youre dedication, commitment and ibergebenkeit to the girls of today. It is so appreciated (although not expressed enough).
