Mr. Moishe Andrusier, owner of First Quality Paper Goods in Crown Heights, is dismayed over the loss of hundreds of checks from his store on Erev Pesach.
The long-time owner of the paper goods store on Kingston Avenue said an envelope with hundreds of checks was taken from his store on Erev Pesach, leaving him with a loss of thousands of dollars.
Andrusier is asking COLlive readers in Crown Heights to help him locate any of the checks, if they end up at other local businesses.
“I don’t know if the envelope was taken on purpose or by mistake, but it is a great loss for my business,” he told COLlive on Friday.
The checks, made out to Cash or to personal accounts, are identified by a stamp with the numbers 378 on the back.
If anyone comes across any of these checks, please contact Moishe Andrusier at 718-467-8899.
Update – Monday, April 23 11:00 pm:
Mr. Andrusier has informed COLlive that the checks have been returned. “We’d like to thank the community for all their support and good wishes,” he said.
Continued Hatzlacha to First quality!
I don’t believe in writing checks out to cash because it sets yourself up for this sort of thing.
If a business owner wants me to write a check to cash and not their name then I’m not going to listen when they come crying because they lost the check… if I wrote it out to them – then I shouldn’t have to worry because only the people I wrote it out to can cash it…
as most were for relatively small amounts, and the cost of stop payments are prohibitive. However, anyone who gave a check before Yomtov should review their statements, and if they see that the check did clear, tell Moishe and help him find the ganiff (if indeed they were pilferred).
would that have happenned with credit cards transactions? stop charging xra 4 cc and start realizing the benefits of cc….
Or cash itself. Because it does Not mean that they were not reported. It simply takes a shorter time to clear the bank.
Not FUNNY
#18 – Chai – I agree with you about #1 – #1 your ga’ava is showing through – you should retract your Sinas Chinom comment. There’s enough of you type people out there stopping Moshiach from finally coming. We need Ahavas Yisroel and judging others favourably and you need to adopt those attitudes. Perhaps after reading my comment and others like it, you’ll think again and ask forgiveness.
A person lost $$. It is not respectful to give life lessons annon from the computer. That is between him and Hashem, not for us to judge.
If you stop payment you can be sued for the money by an innocent 3rd party who takes the check made out to cash for value.
the stupidity and irrationality of number 1 which may have caused you agmas nefesh I give you my personal bracha and assurance that the checks will somehow turn up speedily.
Perhaps he can at least know the amount of the loss by
reconciling the cash register info agaInst cash and checks
made out to the business. I hope people stop payment and
replace the checks, and perhaps get store credit for the
amount of the fee.
hope people stop payment and
Tracht gut vet Zain Gut, i hope with hashems help it will e found and returned, and that people like number #1 will show more Ahavas Yisroel to his fellow Jew.
as you can see must people think that you lack in 2 things. 1) Ahavas Yisroel and 2) some thing that if you don’t have it can’t be replaced.
It is very very sad. I wish Hashem will help to solve the problem and compensate much more. Amen! I dont wish to anybody with the good heart to go through such loss.
you sound like a person who is full of jealousy and hate. As is known someone who tries to make himself out to be righteous is doing wrong stuff all the time. JUst like Someone who raves about their kids is having many problems with them
you make a valid point but what happends if for instance someone spent $25 in the store and it will cost him $20 to stop the check?
In the back behind the cups on the top shelf between the pans and the napkins. Did you ever ask where something is in that store?:) All jokes aside I hope he finds them!
SCS
PLEASE CHECK YOURSELF CUZ YOUR PORTRAYING VERY UNJEWISH TRAITS.
HOPE HE FINDS THEM!
this is absolutely ridiculous – what is the difference in the man receiving checks made out to cash or just cash!!!!!
whomever gave checks, they should call up their banks and have a stop payment put on the check asap. yes I know there is a charge, but maybe andruseir can give them store credit for this bank charge as a courtesy and token of appreciation. then a new check should be written out to him only, etc. it would be the “right” to do….
That is very unfair of you, and really “maseh amalek” to poison the waters with that comment. I take checks in my business all the time, many of them made to cash because it’s just easier, yet I deposit it all to my account and declare every penny of it.
What you have done is Motzi Shem Ra, and you should do what you can to make it up. I’m just horrified that you have no problem dancing on someone’s grave.
i agree every one should give back if the money wasnt charged
B”H # 1 you belong in the drek files, I make out every check to cash as it is easier and do so voluntarily, I have shopped there for over 25 years and Mr. A has never stated make the check out to cash
I actually had a store in CH and I never took checks written out to cash. I got my purse stolen out of my store and I had over $2000 in Checks that could not have been cashed because it was written out to my business. Also I do feel bad for the guy because I know what it means to have a store in CH and make a parnasha and this just makes it harder. I also agree with #13 that customers should look at their accounts to see if these checks were cashed. Also I am not agreeing… Read more »
I would hope my fellow CH-ers would volunteer this info, but I am so disillusioned I think there’ll be plenty of people who will “forget” to check (pun intended) &/or “forget” to go in with a new check or cash.
Placing tzedakah for R’ Meir Baal HaNes, and reciting tehillim. Is that true, there’s some specific segulah for finding a lost object. I should have said it to find my kallah 20 years ago.
He should ask people to check their checking account to see if their checks were cashed and if not to rewrite another check.
unreal
what an unconsiderate person you are.
people that make such statements are people that are big thiefs and liars
most probobly not even observant.
You idiot #1 moishy is always always helping out others. He brings packages back and forth for the bochurim in the yeshiva of staten island. He always helps out!!! Moishy I hope you find it quick!!!
maybe you should try ya’alili!
What small business owner doesn’t have “cash” cheques. Everyone deals with them. Customers don’t have the cash, the the store owner does them a big favor.
I’m so sorry that the checks were lost. I hadn’t found the checks, but I found a shmendrick, in the form of whoever wrote comment one.
i think everyone should quit with their life lessons to every tragedy, article or news information…good luck finding it.
the title should not say stolen it should say lost or misplaced
im so sorry to hear about your lost ! i wish you much luck and success in finding you checks!
he always helps me out, hes such a nice persen, may he live long and happy and gezunte years
HOnestly, I feel really bad the guy lost his money, HOWEVER:
That’s why businesses shouldn’t cheat on taxes by making checks payable to cash. If the store owner reported his checks then he would require checks be made out to his store and they wouldn’t be cashable! It’s a great lesson on why businesses should practice honest buisness practices!
