Event Showcases Women Artists

Hundreds of Crown Heights women gathered on Motzei Shabbos for a Yud Shvat farbrengen, organized by Nshei Chabad of Crown Heights in conjunction with Nshei Chabad L’Dovrot Ivrit – a Hebrew speakers group which recently celebrated its first anniversary.

The evening began with an art exhibition featuring artwork with the theme of Moshiach and Geulah by female Lubavitcher artists. The various pieces of art were presented in the Oholei Torah Ballroom, transforming the hall into an impressive gallery for the evening.

Accompanied by a violinist and a hot and cold beverage bar, the women enjoyed this display of incredible talent. Some of the artists were on site, explaining their pieces to the viewers.

Rabbi Aaron Ginsburg, the Shliach in Boro Park, highlighted the comparison between our generation and the generation of Yetzias Mitzrayim, and left all with the message that just as in order for the miracle of Krias Yam Suf to occur, the Mesiras Nefesh of Nachshon ben Aminadav was needed, so too, our generation must do all in its power to accomplish the bringing of Moshiach – “Tut Altz Vus Ir Kent.”

Mrs. Ortal Hoffman shared her personal story of Teshuva through drama, music and dance.

The final act of the event was a skit about the power of Mivtzoim, titled “Transforming the World, One Soul at a Time.” The performance left the women with a strong feeling of purpose and empowerment. Material for Mivtzoim was available upon exiting, enabling the pariticipants to immediately turn their inspiration into action.

At the last Nshei event for Hebrew speakers, the participating women took upon themselves to light Shabbos candles before the Zman, and then give the collective early minutes as a present to the Rebbe in honor of Yud Shvat.

This Hachlata was extended to Yud Aleph Nissan – the Rebbe’s birthday, and all are encouraged to partake in the effort. All women are asked to mark down how many minutes early candles were lit every week until Yud Aleph Nissan, and email the total to [email protected].
