In preparation for Yom Kippur this year, students of the Shluchim Office’s Online School didn’t just learn about the Machzor – they lived it!
With Mrs. Malka Touger as a guest speaker, presenting a visual presentation of the Kohen Gadol’s Avodah on Yom Kippur, students took a virtual trip into the Beis Hamikdash and saw the Avoda come alive.
Live via web conference from Jerusalem, the renowned teacher, author and lecturer guided students from the Kahon Gadol’s intensive preparations all the way into the Kodesh Hakadoshim and back out again.
Students followed along in the Machzor as Mrs. Touger led them through the Avoda – from the musical accompaniment of the Leviim, to the lottery designating the “seir – goat – l’azazel” and the “seir laHashem,” to the skilled pouring of the Ketores in the Kodesh Hakodoshim, and much more in between.
These fun and fascinating details and a wealth of insight and inspiration, all accompanied by masterful illustrations by Machon Hamikdash, kept seventh through ninth grade students involved throughout.
The Online School is sponsored by Meir and Lilian Nigri, offering chinuch to close to 500 students all over the world.
Mrs. Touger has joined the Online School on a number of occasions, presenting a full virtual tour of the Beis Hamikdash and now this new presentation zooming in on Yom Kippur, programs that she has presented for audiences of all ages, throughout the world.
In the words of Online School Parents: “Thank you so much for providing these educational outlets [that] bring the topic to life!”
“When asked how the presentation was, [Mendy’s] face lit up! Thanks for [giving] our children a whole different look into the davening!”
They thanked Mrs. Malka Touger, as well as Rabbi Gedalia Shemtov, Rabbi Moshe Shemtov, Mrs. Gitty Rosenfeld, Morah Chana Poltorak, Rabbi Yossi Goodman, and Ms. Toby Herman for all their help.
