Eli Ottenstein, a yeshiva-age bochur in Crown Heights, passed away Motzoei Shabbos, 4 Elul 5771.
The 17 year-old was found without life outside his parents home on Lefferts Avenue between Troy and Schenectady.
Police and Hatzalah were immediately called to the scene.
He is survived by his parents R’ Yonathan and Chana Ottenstein and his siblings.
The levaya will be held Sunday, 12:30 PM from Shomrei Hadas and passing 770 Eastern Parkway at 1:15 PM.

I am so glad you brought up tznius. I was struggling, trying to understand how such a tragedy could occur. And I totally forgot that the terrible death of a 17 year old is all because of the women who don’t dress b’tznius. Yep, I see it now, it’s all the women’s fault.
How right you are! I hope and pray that those women and girls who should improve their Tz’nius will accept your plea which is for their own benefit as well as being so vital to all of us and will actually implement it.
To those women/girls: No one is blaming/judging you. Please don’t feel that you have to justify yourself. Just do what you yourself know is right – if not for yourself, then for your loved ones. We’re all in the same boat, after all.

i will keep shabbos more carefully!
i already do chitas, am already careful with Tznius,
i totally forgot to check my mezuzos in years!

1) Annual checks on Tfilin & Mezuzos
2) Jewish self respect, in the form of adherence to jewish-law in modesty
3) Chitas
the above has an impact on the collective safety on the entire community especially Sheitul,

PLease everybody. Stop now asnd DO SOMETHING L’iluy nishmas tis young bochur. Put a coin in a pushka. Say a kaiptal Tehillim. Learn a mishna. Call your elderly neighbour and ask what (not if) youcan pick up for them at the store. Call a friend who’s struggleing – financially, emotionally, physically or spiritually and do what it takes to make their day a bit easier to bear. Go be Menachem Avel.
