Rabbi Eliyahu Bar Shalom, a dayan and leading author of a series of halachic books, was the scholar-in-residence for a special course at the Midtown Kollel in New York City.
Rabbi Bar Shalom’s Mishpat Hakesuba are a foundation for Halachic marriage studies and were the basis of his week-long seminar for a group of 16 participants. He is the lead liaison coordinating these studies in the diaspora for the Chief Rabbinate of Israel.
The course was organized by Rabbi Asher Webb, director of the kollel. The course will help these future rabbis officiate at Jewish weddings in addition to other essential topics covered at the seminar.
“We are proud that our kollel members have taken a lead role in the study of practical rabbinics,” said Rabbi Yehoshua Metzger, director of Chabad of Midtown which operates the Kollel at it’s Fifth Avenue center.
At the conclusion of the seminar, Rabbi Bar Shalom tested the Kollel members on behalf of the Chief Rabbinate of Israel.
