Following many comments on the web about an ad on Facebook placed by Aish.com which used the Rebbe’s photo, the Litvish outreach organization has retracted the ad and issued an apology.
This morning, Daniella Uminer, a Lubavitch woman from Palm City, Florida, wrote: “What you did was totally inapropriate…and decieving..and with that i am talking about your advertisement about chabad!”
A woman from Montreal who goes by Fay Kay added, “Yes it would be appropriate for aish to issue an apology for their deceiving ad.”
An hour later, Aish.com wrote the following:
“The ad was a mistake that was done by a consultant that was hired by aish. As soon as it came to our attention it immediately was stopped.
“We already issued an apology to the Executive Board of Chabad.org. There never was any intent on the part of Aish to use the name Chabad or the Rebbe’s likeness to fool Facebook users.”
I am very surprised at the number of “hate” comments here. Love your fellow man and judge your fellow man favorably are two great mitzvos. Please stop the slander.
Being in the Advertising business myself, nothing is ever a mistake…..
I can tell you from experience that most organizations do use outside companies to handle their facebook ads. What I want to know, who THIS company is? We should Inquire/Demand for a Name of the Company.
its not about if they do anything good. its that there is amongst them those who baschmutz and undermine chabad and try to get people away from Chabad.
so if they want to find yidden and bring yiddishkeit to them but for an orgenazation that tries to take people that are going learning from chabad convince them to go away from chabad because chabd is bad… and come to them this just fits the pattern.
oh come on! ur soo naive
Someone had to sign off on this ad. They knew. I never believe anything any of these these hypocrites say…remember Orlofsky, being the star of the show about Shmiras Haloshen on Tisha B’Av after publicly attacking the Rebbe???
go fay kay!!
Some 35 years ago studying in college in Eretz Ysroel, I wavered between Aish and Chabad and at the end I picked Chabad. I have to say that I never heard anyone at Aish saying anything bad about Chabad (they knew I was leaning towards Chabad) and my experiences at Aish were pleasant and producive.

I grew up in Williamsburg with every stripe of Chasid and litvak and they were all of ONE mindset; Lubavitch takes in GOYIM! That is what they ALL called non frum Yidden. I wish I had a fraction of a penny for all the fun they poked at Lubavitch for taking in these “goyim”. All of a sudden, when they saw how succesfull Lubavitch was with these “goyim” they all jumped on the bandwagon but conviently forgot and keep on forgeting to show Hakoras Hatov to Lubavitch for giving them the guts to do what Lubavitch was doing all along,… Read more »
there are a some aish.com editors writing comments here
dont think everything here is from chabadskers
love u faykay!
this apology sounds pathetically similar to the
apology of R’ Orlofsky when he was caught on tape spewing vicious hate against the Lubavitcher Rebbe
No real harm done. Yay they deceived 80 people to get likes. Let’s move on. Or we can sue to get the likes back 😉
ashrainu ma tov chelkainu we are proud lubavitch chasidim yes they love to copy every thing we do. we must be doing some thing right. yad hachasidim al haheyona . hmavin yavin.
you miss the point…
Halevai that Aish should be doing as well.
don le kaf schus.
They have been positive as of lately on Chabad. We should appreciate the positive parts and iyh tract gut vet zen gut. They’re Am YIsrael,
Chabad’s favor, Aish’s favor…I’m sick of it!
We’re all ONE!
To everyone: ‘Were’s the Aish of ‘Ahavas Yisroel?’
‘Moshiach,’ N O W !
you are so right.
who cares how they get yidden closer to yiddishkeit. as i wrote earlier they are crediting their gedolim with the same chassidisheh stories we know of our Rebbeim, so it hurts but in reality as long as the message is out there.
see alexa.com rankings for chabad.org vs. aish.com.
chabad.org is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay ahead in global and US rankings. v’dal
Aish does a great job and we Lubavitchers should support them! This is not a competition!
I actually thought it was a nice thing, and it was a mistake that went in Chabad’s favor.
Those who complained need to understand that Chassidus and the Rebbe belong to Klal Yisroel. Lubavitchers and Chabad.org do not have a monopoly on the Rebbe.
And besides, aish has been so infiltrated with Chassidishe ideas that it was actually not a misleading ad at all.
THIS POST.
ROFL!!!!!
Hey Aish, try copying the Tefilin thing we do… them Jews LOVE THAT… they will like you some if you copy that.
the rebbe doesnt only want lubavitch doing shlichus, everybody should be doing it.
and on that note: aish does a wonderful job, and we should only speak positive about people
People! Wake up! A litvish outreach organization realizes that not only is the word Chabad a way to bring people back to yiddishkeit, but the face of the Rebbe is! Instead of criticizing we should be singing and dancing. Its so embaracing being Lubavitch sometimes, I feel surrounded by chassidus shoteh daily.
TOO LATE
In light of this we can support some of our own Mosdos on Facebook!

Your story on the ad and many comments are an embarassment!! It’s not us and them! It’s we!!
With the approach of Shavuos Kiish echad Bilev Echad!!!
When they were contacted about stealing the interior of the Berlin Chabad house they gave the same excuse.
The blame always belongs to someone else…..
Your attitude and suspicions are misplaced and only serve to strengthen the divisiveness that exists between various Orthodox groups. The Rebbe didn’t push all Jews to become Lubavitchers. He wanted Yidden to live like Yidden and show the world the beauty of Torah values. Aish does wonderful work. Chabad does extraordianry work. It’s all good. Interestingly, the Rebbe gave several brachos to Reb Noach Weinberg to be matzliach in his creation of Aish HaTorah. We should turn this situation into an opportunity to express achdus and ahavas Yisroel– kill them with kindness… not competition.
I know those types of apology letters. They’re “Whoops, we were caught, let’s smooth this over while claiming as little responsibility as possible” letters.
As long as the ad’s down.
