The team behind the documentary “Rubashkin’s Game Plan” are working tirelessly to tell the full story of Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin, the imprisoned former manager of Agriprocessors meat packing plant in Iowa.
Director Danny Finkelman of Sparks Productions, responsible for the all star cast of music videos “Unity for Justice” and “The Japan Song,” hopes to raise both awareness of Rubashkin’s plight and much needed funds to cover legal fees and the expenses of his wife and children.
It will begin with how the Rubashkins boosted the economy in the small town of Postville with their kosher slaughterhouse and built a vibrant Jewish community until their financial downfall after the 2008 raid.
This week, the documentary’s main cinematographer, Mauricio Arenas, a Chilean Citizen, was reportedly facing a personal issue which details was not given.
Finkelman told COLlive.com that the issue has been resolved after a person heard that Arenas was one of the leading members of the Rubashkin documentary team.
The film, which will be available in the coming weeks, is an independent effort and was not commissioned by Rubashkin or his legal team.
It will include the hit song “Unity,” a collaboration of many Jewish stars and a separate soundtrack with an original score conducted by Israel Edelson, and original songs starring Bentzi Marcus and Yanky Lemmer.
Rubashkin, a first time, non-violent offender, was sentenced to 27 years in prison – practically a life sentence for the 51 year-old man. Many legal professionals have questioned Judge Linda Reade‘s conduct and judgment.
As reported, a new national campaign raising funds and awareness for Rubashkin’s ordeal with injustice has been launched this week as the appeal goes to court beginning June 15, 2011.
“Shalom across America” has begun in Crown Heights with bochurim of Oholei Torah Eighth Grade (OTEG) distributing an informational video and, despite many people not being home, collected close to $7,000.

Oh, and yasher koach to those of you who look like mentchen with your shirts tucked in. Never fall into the trap of “this should be my biggest issue.” It’s called “atzas hayetzer.”
You guys are making the Rebbe proud with all your work. Keep it up!
Cousin in Mtl!
I was in the middle of making dinner when the door bell rang. I asked the boys to come up-stairs because the fires were on. In came three bochurim marching in to my kitchen to collect a check. I smiled and thought it was the most BEAUITFUL thing.
Bochurim taking out time from their heavy schedule for such a worthy cause, if only I could have sent Rubashkin a video.
Wow thank you boys, and everyone taking part in this beautiful project! We need more people like you!
And to number 2, I hope you realize that what you wrote is inappropriate. Many people do not volunteer to do good things because they get criticized for minor details, Kol Hakavod to these bochurim who had the courage anyway
So gorgeous! I cannot wait for the documentary!
A yeshua and guehlah for Shalom Mordichia Halevi ben Rivka now!

he best way to fulfill the Mitzva of Tzizis is to have them hanging ‘on the corner’. This is most meticulously fulfilled by not tucking them inside a waistband.
These holy bochuchim are fulfilling a Mitzvah b’Hidur
We are so proud of you.
let them be-
that should be their biggest isuue
can’ you look passed the un-tucked shirts for to minutes and see the achdus and all the hard work that these 13 and 14 year old boys are doing, i cant believe that its all you can see
TO THE BOYS- thank you so much for all your time and hard work i’m SURE it will pay off and good luck !!!

Unity was extremely well done! Judge Reade has been very shady from the start of the R.Rubashkin case. Her involvement behind the scenes has already given rise to some ugly secrets. I hope justice is done in a formal and professional manner, and not with the scum that lies behind the surface of lies and deceit. R. Rubashkin was for sure not tried fairly, especially relative to his offense and the sentences given in the past to those with similar records. G-d bless America, we need to get this country where it belongs. Justice with truth and dignity.
please make a kiddush Hashem and tuck your shirts in!
Unity was a GOOD song!
