Located midway between Montreal and NYC’s major Jewish communities, Albany’s Maimonides “Passover Stopover” will welcome I-87 Northway / Thruway families traveling north and south this Erev Pesach.
Shacharis begins 8 AM, a Siyum for bechorim (first-born males) and breakfast 9 AM, with Chametz burning supervised by Capt. Dunn of the Albany Fire Department from 9:30 until 11 AM.
The siyum will also mark the school’s namesake the Rambam, who was born on Erev Pesach.
The Pre-Pesach rendezvous, offered by Chabad Shliach Rabbi Yisroel Rubin, will promote the upcoming “87 Northway Torah” serving Jewish travelers in Albany, Saratoga, Lake George and Adirondack locations with no permanent minyan.
The only Orthodox day school from Rockland County to the Canadian border, the Maimonides School serves Northway travelers year round with minyan at nearby Shomray Torah, and promotes Albany’s Historic Capital, NYS Museum, and local attractions for Chol Hamoed sightseeing.
Montreal’s Chief Rabbi Yonason Weiss and the Vaad Hair Executive Rabbi Saul Immanuel recently praised Albany’s Heimish hospitality, recalling the legendary “Shtetl-Kretchme” roadside inns offering weary travelers a warm welcome to rest and refresh from their long trips.
