Car Plows into Chabad 5 Towns

At least 15 people were injured after a blue SUV slammed into a building that houses the Chanukah Wonderland of Chabad of the Five Towns. Shliach Rabbi Zalman Wolowik has requested that we say tehillim for the critically injured. One staff membertold COLlive, "It was truly Hashgacha Pratis that four shluchim - Rabbi Zalman and Chanie Wolowik and Rabbi Meir and Hadassah Geisinsky were all here at the time of the accident, which is not usual - they usually come in shifts. They were all on hand to deal with the crisis." Full Story

Moshiach says it's time to come home
November 21, 2010 4:49 am

Eretz Yisroel needs you, Am Yisroel needs you, Moshiach needs you and of course Hashem needs you as well.

bringing moshiach closer
December 27, 2008 6:29 pm

asking for a refuah shelmah is important but we shouldnt have to, we should really be asking hashem for moshiach, so noone will ever need a refuah shelmah ever again

stronger chabad
December 27, 2008 3:28 pm

when there is a mitsva, Satan tries to intrupt. we have to ask hashem for refua for all injured people in this accident and at the same time we have to support chabad more and more.

what a scary thing
December 27, 2008 10:44 am

Everyone is talking about the voloviks. The geisinskys are just as (or even more) involved! I have been by them in their chabaf on shabbos to help. They work hand in hand. i think credit needs to go where deserved!

May all thoses who need a refuah get one soon.
yasher koach to the shluchim.

was there

ABSOLUTELY an accident – agreed by all.

Involved
December 25, 2008 11:30 pm

The driver is fine, he was shaken but he’s barely injured. All the victims will be okay, BH! To all the other wise comments – this was NOT a hate crime it was the sad consequences of a 78 year old behind the wheel of an SUV. Sorry people’s – totally misplaced blame in this case. But to those who believe that armed security guards prevent accidents, I suggest you hire one to accompany you when you cross the street or play with your kids on your living room floor. To mr. plastic barrier wiseguy – did you notice this… Read more »

This can not be an accident!!!
December 25, 2008 5:12 pm

Did all of you see the same photos I’m looking at here??? The car’s driver was very deliberate and tryed really hard!! He had to be going at a really high rated speed and then hit a car at the curb, jump the curb, got in the building at a really “lucky” angle to be able to situate his BMW right between the poles from all sides!!! he is inches away from the far wall and did not hit it, he is inches away from the poles on 3 sides with very little room to fit a car let alone… Read more »

wow!
December 25, 2008 4:53 pm

okay, i was there with my wife and two kids who are okay. The old man in the suv lost complete control and pushed a three tons parked suv out of the way and crashed through the building. water barriers would have had no effect. the car itself was a high end suv that seemed to bulldoze until stalling ontop of the kids moon walk. FYI there were two guys under the car that i pulled out. one guy seemed alive but the other less so.

The security would stop the car flying in?

December 25, 2008 3:09 pm

It’s amazing that the Shliach of Great Neck who sent a busload of children there had just finished loading the bus with the children when the accident occurred. B”H for these little miracles which avoided greater potential damage R”L.

this is horrible!

December 25, 2008 2:29 pm

keep up the good work
December 25, 2008 2:22 pm

rabbi zalman, chanie, rabbi meir and hadssah g. May Hashem give you the strength to continue with all of the wonderful things you do.

EF

I stand corrected
December 25, 2008 2:12 pm

number nine, you are correct. I didn’t mean to judge but since it was obvious that there were other injuries, I thought it was a little tactless just to ask about the shluchim, even is he/she does no them. We are all Klal Yisrael.

I AGREE
December 25, 2008 2:01 pm

I was actually there today. What the wolowiks did With this Chanukah wonderland is an amazing thing. and i saw the people full of blood. The first thing that came to mind was that we need to do teshuvah and not to look for whom to blame. Because all Jews are one !!!!! If one is to suffer we all suffer. So instead of putting blame lets look for ways that we can help so things like this wont happen to klal yisroel again

WAKE UP!
December 25, 2008 12:33 pm

who are you to demand anything, especialy like shliachs head roll, go do something for the rebbe, or help a shliach and stop giving EITZES.

My heart goes out to the victims and the shluchim
December 25, 2008 12:18 pm

“My heart goes out to the victims and the shluchim” and so does mine, and sweeping responsobility under the carpets does not help Chabad, lets be accontable and take responsability for our mistakes! Shluchim, there are still days of Chanuka – public celebrations to be held, get security! Consult with security experts! Don’t say I didn’t think it could happen to me! No excuses please!

TO ALL OF YOU WHO JUDGE
December 25, 2008 12:14 pm

Shame on you! My heart goes out to the victims and the shluchim. this is a terrible accident – but that’s just what it is – and accident.

to #18 "How would security help. THis was an accident!" NONSENSE!
December 25, 2008 12:12 pm

Around the world AND ESPECIALLY IN NY/Long Island we all know Chabad is a target! A simple plastic barrier filled with water should have been in front! (It than weighs a ton and would stop a car easy) any security would have told you so! WE must demand that heads roll for this! it was siomply unacceptable to not demand security from government/ city and either shliachs head must roll for not demanding it, or city councillers heads must roll or both!! There is simply no excuse!

you must be seating in your house on your………..and is just looking to criticize the shluchim, zalman and chany are doing a amazing job in the five towns against all odds,
knowing them well, i am sure if they needed security they had it ther, and what would a security guard do against a moving SUV?, get a life and dont look for faults by the shluchim.

Security??
December 25, 2008 11:58 am

How would security help. THis was an accident!

why?
December 25, 2008 11:56 am
where was the security???
December 25, 2008 11:55 am

where was the security??? how do you make a public program, and include children with no security plans????? havn’t all chabad shluchim made up after the bombay attack to beef up security?? may Hashem heal the wounded and the shliach was a bit slack!!!

Amazing
December 25, 2008 11:32 am

I heard that the shluchims kids were not there because they were watching the online rally!

December 25, 2008 11:17 am

Probably the person who wrote that knows the shluchim, so naturally they would be concerned. Do not be so quick to judge. especially in a situation like this.

I feel so terrible
December 25, 2008 11:16 am

I hope all the injured have a refuah shelaima now!!

concern for everyone
December 25, 2008 11:03 am

“are the shluchim okay?” What about all the other injured? We have to assume that they are Jewish because they were at the Chanukah wonderland. We should be concerned about them even if they are not shluchim. Also, the Wolowiks are amazing people but what does that have to do with anything?

Hashem has to help!
December 25, 2008 10:54 am

what are the injured people’s names?Lets say tehilim for them! May Hashem help that they have a quick recovery.
