The Capt. Hyman P. Galbut Jewish Learning Center Chabad held an unforgettable Purim Seuda this past Sunday. More than 250 people attended and had a fantastic time. With a “JLC Kids Got Talent” show and a superb Chinese Auction, there was never a dull moment.
The Seuda started with a Megillah reading by Yossi Bortunk and then a delicious Chinese Menu. The JLC Kids had their own menu and entertainment and then came to join the adults in the Shul.
Following a Dvar Torah by Rabbi Yossy Gordon, the kids all paraded on the stage with their costumes to the loud cheering and applause of the parents and all those attending the Seuda. Each of the children got a treat for participating and for getting dressed up.
Following the Purim Costume Parade, the “JLC KIDS Got Talent Show” began. A total of 20 children of all different ages, ranging from 4 years old to 12 years old, put on different shows that included singing, dancing, hula hooping, drumming, violin and keyboard playing and even a magic show.
The job to choose a winner of the $250 grand prize was not an easy one and for that there were three exceptional judges.
The Judges, the rising artist Aaron Holder, runner-up of Season Two of the international A Jewish Star competition, Yankel Katz and Simcha Senerman, had the hard job of choosing who was the most outstanding.
The JLC was honored in having a guest appearance from A Jewish Star Junior finalist Akiva Shechter who sang a few great songs while the judges were deliberating.
The grand prize for winning the competition was split between two brothers Akiva Leiter who played the violin and Uziel Leiter who played the drums.
Right after the Talent Contest, someone in the crowed made an anonymous donation to hear Aaron Holder sing his famous song for Sholom. The evening ended with the JLC Chinese Auction with 21 prizes was drawn and was full of excitement and fun.
Thanx JLC, always a wonderful experience for the whole family.
