The site TheYeshiva.net, billed “the global classroom for Jewish thought and its contemporary applications,” has recently expanded its faculty of lecturers and teachers to offer a full week curriculum.
The 2 year-old online Jewish university offers lectures, courses and essays to fuse the rational, psychological, spiritual, emotional and practical dimensions of Judaism into a holistic tapestry.
Its founder and dean, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchok Jacobson, one of the most sought-after speakers in the Jewish world, says he aims to fill a growing need for high-level Jewish learning for those living in a Jewish community or in remote areas.
What began as a weekly Parsha class Rabbi Jacobson gave on our sister site COL.org.il in honor of Chana Raskin-Wolvovsky OBM has snowballed into a full-fledged online yeshiva (some of its classes are featured today on COLlive.com).
“The response to that initial weekly class on COL was phenomenal,” Rabbi Jacobson recalls. “We immediately saw the potential and also the need for a website dedicated to learning and knowledge.”
Rabbi Chaim Boyarski, Shliach at Ottawa Campus, said: “I can’t begin to tell you how much the students and I gain from the programs. It gives us a fresh and beautiful perspective on the Parsha, on life and on challenges we may experience.”
And the yeshiva is not restricted to men.
Sharona from Toronto, who runs a dorm for youthi in crisis, wrote: “Every week and holiday of mine has been so different since I began hearing the web classes. I can now get a real yeshiva experience and strength to handle life’s tasks in an inner Jewish way.”
Thanks to grants from Astor & Black CEO David Schottenstein, The Chanin Fund and Reb Shaya Boymelgreen and his family, TheYeshiva.net is moving to the next level.
Beginning Sunday, 7 Adar II, March 13, the birthday and yartzeit of the giver of the Torah, two new courses on Talmud Bavli are being offered – each course will run in 6 to 8 week semesters.
Each Sunday, at 8:30 PM EST, Talmud in Depth (Gemara, Rashi, Tosfos) will be delivered by Rabbi Ephraim Piekarski, former dean of Beis Medrash Oholei Torah in Crown Heights, member of Vaad Rabanei Lubavitch, and author of Tosfos in English, the first-ever translation and elucidation of the Tosfos commentary.
A beginners Gemara course will be aired each Wednesday at 8:30 PM EST by Rabbi Eli Wolf, spiritual leader of the Beit David Highland Lakes Synagogue in Aventura, Florida and known for his ability to teach scholarly material in a clear and eloquent manner.
Every class on TheYeshiva.net is text-based and comes with a downloadable curriculum and has follow-up questions and answers online. The program and curriculum director is Rabbi Avi Shlomo.
Classes are filmed in a studio in TheYeshiva.net’s offices in Brooklyn and posted for nightly learning at 8:30 PM EST.
Another new lecturer, and also from Florida, is Rabbi Chaim Itche Drizin, an innovative marriage and family therapist with practices in Boca Raton and Hollywood, FL. He will be giving a 3 week course on the psychology of chinuch.
They join the weekly popular Monday: Parsha and Tanach by Rabbi Jacobson, leader of Congregation Beis Shmuel Chabad in Crown Heights, and the Likkutei Torah class by Chassidus teacher Rabbi Yossi Paltiel.

The Yeshiva.net is just what it’s name says—-serious learning on the web for everyone no matter where and who you are!! A great idea—that needs support of those who can for those that can’t!
We got so much out of your classes – so glad a broader audience will be able to benefit.
