Mrs. Leah Rubashkin and her family have moved to Monsey, NY in recent weeks.
A family friend told COLlive the Rubashkins moved to the New York area to be closer to Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin, who is serving a 27 year prison sentence in Otisville, NY. Mrs. Rubashkin chose the suburban area of Monsey over New York City, she said, because after living in rural Postville it would be too much of a transition for her children.
This Sunday the women of the local Chabad community welcomed Mrs. Rubashkin and her family at a reception at the home of Rabbi Zalman and Devorah Goldstein.
After remarks by Rebbetzin Chaya Werner, Shlucha to Rockland County, NY, Mrs. Rubashkin spoke of the many miracles that her family has experienced during their trials and tribulations of the past few years.
During her talk everyone was surprised when her cell phone rang, and it was her husband, Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin calling, who wished the community “Ksiva V’Chasima Tova” and a “Gut Gebentched Yohr” via speakerphone.
The entire Sefer Tehilim was also completed with chapters divided among all present, and a delicious dessert buffet was enjoyed by all.
